Want to watch this for the first time. I heard Netflix removed songs so ive decided i want to watch the original release.

Is there a place i can watch rent or buy? Also Sub vs dub?

Watch Gurren Lagann instead.

Its also a mech anime created later by gainax, the same studio, and superior in almost every way imo. Especially the music and the main protagonist, who goes through one of the best character development ever.

TTGL is fun, but it's dumb fun. It's not even comparable to NGE.

You can get the expensive set from Amazon, or there are, y'know, certain sites.

It's a good Anime. Anyone who says it's overrated are spoiled by all the Anime that it inspired or they just don't like narratives that aren't straight-forward.

I suggest the manga version of Evangelion, the characters and plot are treated much better than in the TV version or End of Eva.

Gurren Lagann is an anime where your ability to be badass is literally determined by how much you believe in yourself. It's pretty fuckin' hype.

Netflix alters the dialogue a bit and doesn't use the original voice actors. Also it uses a different soundtrack. Toonami dub is fine, but Rei's voice is so quiet you can't understand her.

Also in the dub they don't translate the Japanese texts so you're going to miss out on a lot of the story ;)

Dialogue changes are subtle but significant, and the VAs don't match the quality of the old ones.

Or don't be a baby and just watch the og version cause it's better and has an awesome ending song. I watch the ending everytime. They have different people singing it in different episodes.

Most people will tell you that the og dub is better, ala Cowboy Bebop or Trigun.

Sub is fine considering that in the dub the Japanese text on screen isn't translated and that some characters are really difficult to understand. But you can skim through dubbed scenes just to hear what kind of voices were popular back then.

The original dub for Eva was not very good and wildly inconsistant. One character went through like 3 different voice actors thruought the show

All these complications about dubs and subs is just more reason to watch Gurren Lagann instead.

For Evangelion? God no, most people agree that the dub is pretty shocking. They only really started to get it right in the Rebuilds.
