He said at the time some 20 rioters were trying to escape from the Polytechnic University area and entered the tracks at Hung Hom station. I doubt those of the group(s) who are targeted and wiped out would agree with that. Not to mention that it would be giving evil what it wants with no repercussions to them.

I've thought about it, and if there was ever a targeted, widespread, and successful genocidal campaign against my race, then I definitely would wish that any survivors or those sympathetic to their suffering would just pull the plug on the human race itself, because at that point, it would have crossed the line where it doesn't deserve to exist any longer.

Seriously - "genocide is a necessary evil for the greater whole to remain alive" is what that sounds like, Duncan. I'd love to see you say that to someone who survived the Holocaust, Rwandan genocide or Armenian genocide. I'd love to see you say that to a Uyghur detainee who's had god-knows-what done to them for years, that you'd rather see them continue to be detained and murdered than risk the ire of China.

You might not have intended it to sound that way, but it's callous and it's cruel. I hope you're never locked up, injected with mystery drugs and slaughtered in the name of racial suppression, because you'll have a lot to answer for in your misery.

We have allowed genocide to happen almost every time it has. Most recently in Myanmar (maybe still ongoing, no one even talks about it anymore).

But how would greedy global corporations get their cheap, almost slave labor? Ain't gonna happen, sadly, no matter the atrocities that may happen

I also think people are missing the other part of the we can't afford to cut off China part of the equation. Not only do companies miss out on cheap labor/production. But consumers need to pay more and the economy becomes weaker. People will punish whatever politicians implement sanctions against China, because the economy is more important to them than a moral issue in another country.

We didn't have china in the WTO in the 80s and early 90s, and tariffs were commonplace. There was a world before the WTO too, and tariffs were a thing.

You know, maybe regular middle class people were not meant to be able to have a 70in 8K HD TV hooked up with a super-high speed internet connection and a PS4 Pro, a new iPhone and apple watch every fucking year and a sub-40k Mercedes Benz. Maybe rich people are meant to have that, while middle class people should have a 50in 1080p screen (oh! the horror!), a regular PS4 with no VR, an iPhone 8 (unthinkable! SUCH CRUELTY!) and 40k should get them a buick, not a benz.

We need to stop looking the other way around at sweat shops, 3rd world extreme poverty and 1st world job losses, and dictatorial atrocities just so we can have rich people stuff for middle class prices.
