San Franciscos $11 billion 2018-19 budget includes $1.05 million devoted to building new public toilets and expanding the hours of those that already exist, according to the Chronicle. The budget also includes $3.1 million to hire new street cleaners.

Ah yes, like that old saying A pound of cure is worth more than an ounce of prevention.

I've been in CA most of my life.
I plan to retire out of state.
My money will go much farther in any other state.
My biggest complaint is over population.
Everything and everywhere is just a mass horde of bewildered people, standing around with their mouths open as if this was the first day they ever stepped outside.

My biggest concern is trying to figure out where to move to.
I don't want to go somewhere only to find myself surrounded by all the people that I tried to get away from, a few years later.
I have no politics and I don't consider myself a Californian or any other type of "ian" "ite' or "ander".
I just wants some peace and quiet with about a half mile between me and my nearest neighbor.

Arizona, Colorado and Texas have large influxes of Californians moving there, so if you don't want that, avoid those states.

As for options: Wyoming, North/South Dakota, Idaho, Montana, Iowa and even Kansas. The north is worth checking out more than the south, imo.

Yea. If you want to avoid drastic influxes of people, you gotta go where it gets cold. I have no problem with cold.

California don't have to worry about yearly tornadoes, major floods, etc. Only wild fires that don't effect the cities and major earth quakes that only happen every 30-90+ years and it don't effect the whole state. It's so cheap else where because majority of the population have to evacuate their homes every year, buildings and entire cities are destroyed and all that mother nature crap and they gotta rebuild so cities/states gotta attract people some how and it's with affordable housing that like I said gets destroyed every year or two.

Looks like the superior part of California (Northern) only effects counties with isolated populations and the fires hasn't effect the bigger cities except for the smoke

SFs problem is that people are being priced out of their homes. Even if theres 1000 new houses what's the point if no one can afford them.

I just find it hilarious how everyones image of california comes from san francisco or LA when the vast majority of the state is nothing like that. And people have this image that everyone is a crazy hippie in california when there is a very large amount of people who live outside of the bay area and LA metro who are republican and trump supporters, and they are most concentrated in central valley and sutter county, where it seems like the majority of people are farmers, truck drivers, and manual laborers. I lived in central valley briefly and I've lived in the southeast, and I can tell you that its very similar living in both areas.

And there is so much variation in types of suburbs, theres something for everywhere. You want rich and snooty, Saratoga, Los Gatos, Los Altos. You want rich and non-snooty, Cupertino, South San jose, Mountain View to an extent. You want bargain family neighborhoods? Milpitis, Tracy, Roseville, Rocklin, Folsom, Natomas, Morgan Hill, some parts of San Jose. You want new development thats affordable, Tracy, Roseville, Rocklin, etc. You have money and you want to live well without getting ripped off? Granite bay, el dorado hills, morgan hill, etc.

Theres plenty of smaller cities in between that fit the bill too.

do you realize how unimportant san francisco is? how little it represents what it's like to live in california.

no one can afford to live there except the very rich or students who are taking loans

it's a small ass city that attracts the most brilliant physcians, science, and tech jobs

people don't live in SF. they commute to it. San Jose and LA are far more important cities

San Francisco is not a city that people want to live in. People live around SF and commute there for work. It is literally a work city with an abundance of friendly homeless people who have moved from all over the country to there. The entire reason why the golden gate bridge and bay bridge are so famous is because every person in cali who l ives in the bay area has to commute on those bridges

the only real complaint about cali that is accurate is the traffic and expensive housing costs. No one in cali has ever thought about san francisco having poop issues, and less than .00001% of people in cali will deal with fire issues

So does anyone remember the guy who was harangued by a San Fran police officer for eating a breakfast sandwich on the BART platform (BART is Bay Area Rapid Transit)? That requires police intervention and arrest, but my man with no shoes can spark up right on a bus with no problem:

https://www.instagram.com/p/B5DrDeFpELA/

And this is coupled with the newly elected D.A. stating that his office will lessen their efforts on prosecuting quality of life crimes such as prostitution & public urination:

https://www.newsweek.com/san-francisco-district-attorney-public-urination-prostitution-not-prosecute-1471475

While I understand the spirit of not filling dockets with low-level prosecutions, you still have to maintain some form of social decorum, and having street officers walk the other way when someone is openly pissing near a public school or using needles in the middle of a public park is a bad path to go down.
