However I preface that it is a Kids (10+) show, maybe a little bit younger/more kid friendly than The Clone Wars (2008) was, especially in the first season.

It really picks up in the third season in terms of writing quality, animation quality, etc.

So if you got Disney+, now is as good a time as any to check it out.

I'm not a fan of much animated anything, and I put on SW Rebels the other day just as background noise and got really into it, basically finished the first season in a single day. I highly recommend it also, it's quality.

I tried the clone wars cartoon because everyone said it was some of the best star wars media out there.

I feel like I was gaslit on a large scale. It's just an action oriented kids show with bad cgi. No character development or intrigue or anything.

i see you never watched the Umbara plotline

i really like Clone Wars, but Rebels was just okay.
i noticed that they basically never killed any stormtroopers with the lightsaber, it was always by knocking out or slicing their guns.

Why would I want to watch a show that glorifies terrorism?

Fair enough, but I think everything you said is wrong and I hate you and you're crazy.

This is pretty accurate for the first two seasons.

But very inaccurate for later seasons.

I was following it for a while, but once it got Thrawn heavy I kinda lost interest.

Tbh, yes. That's probably what I would recommend.

You'll be losing out on some setup for new characters (for instance, a handful of clones are recurring characters throughout the series), but the episodes do not proceed in chronological order. For instance, I believe there's an episode in like season 4 or 5 that is a prequel to the movie which started the series. There are stories that are expanded on in later seasons, but the title crawl will give you enough context to know what's going on.

And if there are episodes you really need to watch sequentially, they are typically one after the other in the show.

The nice thing about the show is that stories are often as long as they need to be. Storylines can be one off episodes or 3 episodes in sequence. Or a one off episode from an earlier season may be expanded into a multi episode saga.

The free form approach they took is a huge benefit to the series. They have a ten year time gap to work with, and they don't have to worry too much about "well this happened so we can't do this story", since they can just put the story at a time before that happened.

Yeah. I preferred when it had a larger emphasis on the inquisitors and other force adept characters, but majority seems to enjoy Thrawn so I'll concede.

I was honestly the opposite. I found the Inquisitors dull.

I was just playing at in the background while I did other things until almost season 3 when I started to notice I liked the show legitimately.

if you cannot turn off that part of your brain that goes "but this is for kids" then I can see you never really liking in the show but particularly as the show goes on it gets more and more enjoyable as just a regular show.

I just love the concept of Chopper.

Basically the idea of his character was "if R2D2 is a dog, then Chopper's a cat". It works perfectly.
