I have a 2 year old and a baby coming in March, so need a dog good with kids/babies. brestugo 11/10/19 4:27:00 PM #7:	Shih Tzu's are cool but the pups are expensive. My parents had one 17 years. Now they have a "Morkie" - a Maltese/Yorkie mix. Supposedly the best of both worlds. 5 months old, getting his nuts cut off next month. My American Blue Heeler has also been great with little ones, though he can get scared sometimes. Plus, i don't know what he's mixed with. Both of mine are shelters babies, and I've had them since they were really young. My sister has a shih Tzu and yorkie. The Yorkies never shut up. And the Shih Tzu has a personality. Both are good, though. Though not sure how good around kids. Would have to ask my grandma. Both are expensive, though... I think many can be good with kids if trained well, though. It might just take more training, and watching a lot to know if it'll work. Though, I would probably wait until after the child is born. Most animals aren't always the best with new people being added to the family. Though, some of the expensive ones have a waiting list. Some may come with a better reputation for being better with kids, or normally have a nature that makes them better with kids. Avoiding getting one from a private breeder or puppy mill is best. Those poor dogs have been so overbred that most of the ones that are born dont even survive and the ones that do have breathing and teeth problems from their flat snouts and their eyes can pop out of their head. You can find pugs that arent so tragically overbred though.
