Auron was once an absolutely dominant competitor - if the STATS had existed at the time of his victory, he would have been a solid 4th place. Unfortunately for him, the combination of post-winner syndrome and the general tendency of people assuming he'd be fine without their help led to a fairly steep decline, both in the short and long term. He does at least have a fair bit of company, with nearly half of all champions having received the boot at least once now.

He may never reach the peaks of yesteryear, but that's not to say his numbers aren't still very good, as he gains 1.50%, climbing to 69.53% and up one spot to 15th. Meanwhile, this does wonders for his newSTATS, as he rises 6.10% to 61.34% and twelve spots to 27th.

I remember how much I hated last year's final after Kefka was eliminated and I'm on the opposite side of it this time. It did come down to seconds in H2, I noticed all the Edward savers were earliest in the first hour so figured he would pull it out, but it really could've gone either way.

I don't know what to say and anything I say probably won't help. I've already said how strongly I feel about Lightning winning to correct what happened last year and I just hope others can empathize with that. This should be a feel-good story, whether it's about last year or her past contest close calls, of always making runs but never quite making it, that this can be her one moment in the sun. If she wins this time it would be a feel-good story and we can all partake in that.

And then swordz will be able to move on, and she won't make deep contest runs anymore. I know I can't appeal to the haters but I'm still extending the hand of friendship, to vote for her in this one and final circumstance so the contest will be divested of her in future years.

I hope we can bring this home for swordz most of all, and we'd appreciate any support in the finals.

(I also think she's a good character and genuinely like Lightning Returns which probably puts me in a tiny minority, but yeah...)

Also, if anyone threw their top 15 rankings into a notepad file way back when instead of posting them, feel free to PM them to me EOD today... I'll crunch some numbers and post stats tomorrow. Will also post final iron man stats later.

despite my snark and dislike of the character, the justice for light propaganda has been a good draw at getting her here

I mean yeah but I literally said both characters were legit.

Fang had an identifiable meme but Cid really REALLY didn't outside of like the novelty of him hanging around.

Lefty and I have talked about it alot and we legitimately dont know why that happened.

Well, for two years in a row now, the XIII backers controlled the show. First getting Fang of all people to a championship, and now Lightning. I have heard that this will cause a slight decline for Lightning, but honestly, it's not guaranteed. They have the numbers. If the XIII gang wanted a repeat Lightning championship, the rest of us might not be able to stop it. It's their show for the moment, unless they truly do disband.

I probably vote for lightning because I'm worried this contest is going to turn into one real character vs one joke character in the final each year. Plus Edward getting second will be a better comic anyway.

Maybe. I just don't really know honestly, given how the finals work with there being a benefit for those that really care enough to vote all 10 times or whatever. I'm not sure I can stomach voting that much in something I really don't care about.

I don't have faith in myself so I didn't think it was good propaganda. It was just how I felt, and felt more passionately about for an online Save-My than I ever should, and ideally never will again. I didn't think it had any real impact. A lot of people are sitting out the finals, after all.

There is no XIII gang. It was literally swordz carrying her all along, with his partnership with Chris and the occasional secondary/tertiary saves. We got lucky with certain character eliminations along the way. She was seriously heading for elimination until Robazoid returned.

There being no XIII gang is proven by looking at how every other XIII character did. If Lightning wins, the core of swordz moves on & Chris already has. Secondary picksup of myself and Roba move on. Who mains Light next year? Either a brand new user, or an existing user who decides to main her despite the fact she just got a win? Where's the secondary support? I just don't see it.

I just want to save Tifa next year, damn.

on one hand it deserves to be run over by a doomtrain, but on the other hand doomtrain is too cool for it

Last year maybe a little since Inviso had a few people on board for Year Of XIII, but most of the XIII characters dont do all that good in this and thats why Inviso even started that project. That year got most of them the highest placements they will probably ever have since most of them struggle to even make the top half

Either way, former champs always have it rough come top five time (again, barring Vivi) so he did do incredibly well.

I'm 95% certain my soul would have torn towards #NeverLightning had he gotten there.

I like Snow and it doesnt hurt he has a fantastic voice actor in Troy Baker. Ive liked that guy since his nice anime/JRPG days and now hes one of the biggest game voice actors in the world
