"I think within the next few years, gaming will move on to streaming," Kojima said. "Movies, dramas, and games will all be streamed, and you'll enjoy them on your iPad or iPhone or a screen anytime, anywhere. When that happens, games, films, and dramas will have to compete in the same space. I'm very interested in the new format of game that will appear on there, and that's what I want to take on."

Maybe in the Japan bubble he's not wrong but I think we're a long way from it going mainstream. Even now we're only hitting half splits for physical and digital.

The american prison system is a sorry mess but giving them game consoles isn't going to solve anything.

It's only a matter of time. American ISPs are holding it back but without a doubt game streaming will have it's place in this upcoming gen.

It'll be hilarious if his next game is published by Google as a Stadia exclusive.

I'm curious how much bandwidth streaming games requires.

My TV doesn't have PS Now because the service isn't available in Australia and there's no indication of when it will be.

I've tried GeForce Now and the latency was too much to deal with.

I do stream games over local networks to other devices and it'll be good when it hits that sort of standard.

That's ironic because PS Now only became worthwhile when they copied Game Pass's exact game model (rent PS4 games and then download them on your system) and even then it's still worse than Game Pass lol

At the best possible quality, Stadia will use 35 Mbps of data per second, or about 15.75GB per hour. At Googles recommended minimum quality, Stadia will use about 4.5GB per hour.

lol no thanks.

Maybe if we ever get quantum internet, but by that point you'll probably just be able to jack into the game yourself.

Stadia definitely won't be the one to effectively push streaming into the gaming industry but Project xCloud definitely has the potential to.

I refuse to pay for a game that I can't have in my hand or on my hard drive. I will quit gaming altogether before I spend a dime on a game streaming service.

I don't think that'll be a 'new format of game's like Kojima seems to be talking about. That sounds more like what Stadia wants although they have yet to show any examples.

I think he just means that it will be a new format like cartridge to disc was. And with that might come some changes in game development, good and bad.

Also xCloud is doing both a private network streaming and server based streaming. Which I think is the way to go.

Yeah in interested in streaming games from the hardware at home to other places (if the internet is good enough I can do that with PC and PS4 already) but I don't see a scenario where I'd prefer to stream games at home.
