Home Depot if I mostly want to walk in, buy something relatively cheap, and then walk out.

If I'm buying something where quality is actually a consideration, or where I'm going to need help from someone working there, I tend to go to Lowe's instead.

I've literally never heard of Menards, and have no idea where in the world they're located, but it almost certainly isn't anywhere near me.

I said Home Depot, but mostly ever go to Lowe's out of convenience. Also, never heard of Menards.

And another thing - how is it that some people never step into these stores? Or is it simply that they shop else where?

I go there far more often than Home Depot, but I can't stand it.

Which ever one has what I need. Most of the time I just go to Lowe's because it is closer (by like 2 minutes, but still).

Home Depot.

Not that I have any sort of brand loyalty. Just that I live a stone's throw away from one. Practically across the street from me.

I think Zang mentioned he used to work at Menard's but they went defunct.

Other than that, I have no clue who they are.

Anyways, I mostly agree with what you said about HD/Lowe's.

Probably the ultimate endgame of a culture of unmasculine men growing up to be adults, combined with being part of a generation that doesn't actually tend to own homes in the first place.

Most younger people today don't really know how to do anything other than the most simple repairs, without either contracting out to a landlord or plumber/electrician/general contractor/etc. And for most smaller, minor repairs, you can just as easily buy supplies in the home section of a local Wal-Mart or have it sent by Amazon. The days where every man was expected to be able to do most of his own home repair and should feel ashamed of himself if he couldn't are long since over.

Or they know you can learn how to do nearly any home repair project by watching a few YouTube videos

Lowes used to have the best selection of tools, but now they've gone all-in on Craftsman which is overpriced garbage now. Menards is starting to do that same thing.

Between Home Depot and Lowe's can't say I have a favorite. I have not noticed any difference between the two and I just go to whichever one is more convenient and/or have the specific product I want.
