Probably the ultimate endgame of a culture of unmasculine men growing up to be adults, combined with being part of a generation that doesn't actually tend to own homes in the first place. Most younger people today don't really know how to do anything other than the most simple repairs, without either contracting out to a landlord or plumber/electrician/general contractor/etc. And for most smaller, minor repairs, you can just as easily buy supplies in the home section of a local Wal-Mart or have it sent by Amazon.
