Red wine is good. Merlot is one of my favorites. I also like many brands of red blends and pinot nior.

White wine is an absolute abomination.

Though if you don't like merlot, try sweet red, rose or port. They don't have the tart taste that most other red wines have.

To me red wines have a range of flavors that makes it worth trying new ones. White wine just taste like alcoholic apple juice to me. Sometimes it is sometimes carbonated like champagne.

In my experience Merlots have been some of the most boring reds I've had, relatively bland and soft. That said I haven't had it blended with cab, does it make that much of a difference? I'm no expert, just always looking to learn more about the grapes.

Myself, I seem to gravitate to Spanish reds, really digging tempranillos right now. Oh yeah, and zins, always been a fan of those too.

If you aren't used to wine, you shouldn't start off with a merlot. You start off sweet and gradually move towards dry.

Also as others have stated, white wine is mostly awful.

The Outback in my area serves a Worlds Edge Cabernet that is really very good.

Not all red wines are the same. Maybe try a red blend

I love most red wine, cheap or fancy. White is smoother to drink but I don't like it as much

I've only eaten them once, and yes, they were boiled. Actually, I didn't so much eat them as take a bite and immediately vomit explosively. My sister did the same thing. Literally the only vegetable I ever remember getting out of eating as a kid. Mom never even made them again.

But I suppose if it makes a difference, I see no harm in ammending my statement to say white wine was the most miserable flavor ever except boiled Brussels sprouts.

I like a nice Malbec.

I've been a beer drinker for most of my life; but during the last couple of years I've gotten more and more of a taste for red wine, and I've found I have a far more enjoyable relationship with it than I had with beer.
