The model-turned-history teacher who quit an elite South African school after having a sexual relationship with at least one pupil is the 'sister-in-law' of Lady Amelia Spencer, it can be revealed today.

Fiona Viotti, 30, resigned suddenly from 16,000-per-year Bishops Diocesan College in Cape Town last Thursday before an 18-year-old student came forward to say he was in an 'intense' sexual relationship with her.

Investigators at the school are now preparing to interview 40 present and former pupils over the scandal - which has seen explicit videos of Fiona shared around the college and online.

Fiona - who married venture capitalist Pavo Viotti just last year - is the daughter of Dave Mallett and has a brother named Greg Mallett.

Greg is in a long-term relationship with Lady Amelia Spencer, daughter of Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer. She is Princess Diana's niece.

The scandal broke on Sunday, when a South African newspaper reported claims that an 18-year-old at the school had been in a sexual relationship with Fiona, that became controlling when he tried to end it.

The teen told the newspaper that she refused to accept the affair was over, at which point he told his parents who called in a lawyer.

She then quit the school, where she also worked as a water polo coach and under-14 rugby coach, and is now thought to be sheltering at her father's house.

Viotti's lawyer has spoken only to deny claims that she had fled the country, though said she is 'stressed' over the allegations. No charges have yet been laid.

Outlining the claims against Fiona, one of the boy's parents told the IOL news site: 'He was a willing participant in the beginning but became a victim when he couldn't get out of it.

'The teacher started texting him to come to her house on the campus and that's how it started but it got to the stage where he had had enough.

Sources told local media: 'It seems this has been going on for about six years.

The South African Police Service have not been involved as criminal charges have not been laid as the schoolboy is two years over the age of consent.

Fiona is a former model, played water polo as a teenager, and was one of the 'Beauties of Sport' featured in Sports Illustrated in 2009 a year after she met her future husband.

A former schoolboy at Bishops Diocesan College who was taught water polo by the school mistress said: 'Every boy at the school was besotted with Fiona as she looked like a supermodel.

'But the thing was she was never flirty and comes across as a very shy and innocent and very nice girl and to hear these allegations has just blown me and a lot of the guys I went to school with away.

'The Malletts are part of the fabric of the recent history of Bishops and I cannot believe Fiona of all people has been having sex with her pupils as she is the total opposite of the sort of person you would suspect.'

Well... dude was 18. They don't mention the ages of the other dudes, if there actually were any. But in the one case presented, she didn't commit a crime. Definitely fire-worthy though, no question.

It's weird. We got a thread right now on CE advocating that a 7 year old boy is capable of deciding to transition to female, but this 18 year old boy can't consent to a sexual relationship with an older woman? :thinking:

So at 42 if I decide to go college and get a degree and find one of my professors is a hot af 56 year old milf, I am incapable of turning down or accepting her advances, as were are both adults, without it being an imbalance of power? As in simply because she is in a position of authority all my abilities of consent are negated?

I don't understand South African schools at all. Is every school a "college?" He was at the same high school for six years? This chick was his water polo teacher at 12 and for another six years? Was he getting a doctorate in water polo? She started messing around with him at 12? Someone explain to me South African schools.

Depends on what the school policy is. I don't think there are laws against sleeping with your college professor, but I imagine the university would frown on one of their professors doing that
