So the question is, can you prove that souls do exist?

One of my favorite things about CE is skipping about a hundred posts and coming across an evidently completely unrelated argument lol.

Despite my success my parents have never invested in me, and they could have but chose not to. They refused to support me at all in college despite me choosing the cheapest education route. Literally would not buy me textbooks, and it was all they had to pay for. Meanwhile both of my loser sisters were treated to new eaves every week.

They're acting really warm now and want to be all in my face and part of my life. They'll get out of me what they put in, luckily i have 4 siblings they can try and get to care for them, although only my older brother is capable.

They also talked me into giving them my savings to get a new house, which they failed to get. My mom put bills, phones and credit cards in all of our names ruining our credit to start life.

I will never, ever help or support them and have told them as much.

Adding on to this, my dad had a midlife crisis when we were graduating high school and declared that we were grown and he did his job raising us, and he also lost his job briefly due to a falling out with his boss. He was still able to get a pension since he was there for 32 years.

So the only part of my life where i actually needing their support, they chose not to do so. I do not spare a thought to how they're going to get by when they're out of their minds and unable to care for themselves.

I sacrificed opportunity to work from age 19 to 23 helping my mother with her home daycare, and she still acts like a victim to this day as if no one helps her with anything. She was stay at home mother until I was in the 10th grade and she started a daycare center.

I bounced back really well in life, all in spite of my worthless dead weight parents who actively sabotaged my life. Also, she refused to sign for a car for me when I had a really good job offer. I ended up taking the bus to shitty jobs for two years, and then got my own car in my name and now have an excellent job paying 6 figures. She does not drive and is too lazy to do so, and bitches that I refuse to ever drive her anywhere. She will not benefit from my hard work.

We're all on a Verizon family plan and I am the only one who has paid my part of the bill every month for 8 years. Even my older brother who is officially rich and his wife don't pay shit. My phone got cut off for a day and I immediately got my own phone plan and have stopped giving her money for it, she's on her own with that.

You have a moral obligation to support them for 18 years. If you really didnt want to be born youd have done something that I cannot mention here

Also, my parents were just too dumb to use birth control and we were homeless sleeping in our church when I was a toddler, then we moved into my aunt's basement.

Luckily my dad got a great paying job and we moved to the suburbs by the time I finished kindergarten. But yea, i have no obligation to ever help them out and I will never.

I've never heard of this but who knows.

I know in Canada say when parents die if they owe taxes or have debts, obviously anything left in their estate goes to debts first and if there isn't enough they can try and go after family, but they cant legally force you to pay a dime. The trick here is they try and get you to agree to pay, then you're on the hook.

I don't think parents have an obligation to pay for anything college related since you're an adult when you go to college, but it did always annoy me that my parents paid for my brother's first two years of college which was at some far away university with dorms and a meal plan and everything to pay for, but when I tried to be responsible with money and go to community college and forgo all those extra college expenses they paid for my first round of books and that was it. >_>

I'm grateful my parents are self sufficient and did quite well (although they sacrificed alot and saved alot to enable this) but my mother in law however is a little bit less so after my father in law passed. Whilst I don't want to have to support her, the reality is if she can't be self sufficient, I can't turn a cold shoulder especially when she's the one who raised my wife.

I'm not super rich or anything, but we are financially sound enough to be in a position to support her if we needed to. That being said she's great at babysitting so I'd expect some contribution from her in that regard! (which she does)

They paid for everyone else but me and I spent all of my minimum wage earnings taking care of myself, as they have no supported me since the age of 14 with the exception of sleeping in their house and I was tricked into giving them my savings so I couldn't move out on my own during college.

FYI I went to community college and paid it myself, just came up short on the books, I would have paid them back too, as I do not owe anyone money ever.

Not really no. Again if they didnt want to be born they should have not fertilized the egg and just waited to die like their millions of potential brothers and sisters did.

It's not so much if it's an accurate statement or not. Because yeah no one asks to be born. It's more the sentiment that it seems that a good portion of a generation has given up on life and they're blaming their lot in life on their parents instead of working towards making their lives positive. It's sad really.

Not in the slightest. It's the sentiment that we were shoved into this life whether we'd want to have a go at it or not and many of us want to make it the best we can and society-enforced "obligations" have a high potential of *making life shitty for a long time.*

This. How do expect one to ask someone who doesnt exist? Should we go into the future and ask? Or find a psychic? Saying your parents didnt ask if you want to be born before existing is the ridiculous statement here...
