This is a topic to rate the contest strength of potential newcomers in the current contest environment.

I will pick the characters to rate and discuss for each day from user nominations - whoever the 3 most nominated characters are at that time. If there are more than 3 I will pick randomly. You can nominate any number of characters at any time, but you cannot nominate the same character twice.

All characters who were present in the 2018 Character Battle will NOT be eligible. Otherwise you can nominate any character that has appeared in video games; even comic book characters. This will exclude real-life athletes who have only appeared in long running sports series, however I will accept those who have their own games such as Shaq. I will accept nominations for iconic gaming duos too, if there is a compelling reason for both characters to be linked (either co-starring in a game ala Banjo & Kazooie, or always appearing together like Callie & Marie from Splatoon).

Each day will have a separate topic, and nominations will carry over. As far as actually rating the character's contest strength; I ask that users rank a characters potential strength with one of the following qualifiers - LAW Fodder, Low Fodder, Mid Fodder, High Fodder, Fodder Line, Low Midcarder, Midcarder, High Midcarder, Near Elite, Elite, LAW Tier (capable of beating Link). I will average all the ratings given to a character to come up with their final ranking. I have included a highlighted entrant from Character Battle X on each tier of the strength rankings below, to provide a baseline for each.

Note that LAW Fodder is meant to be a tier reserved for the weakest possible characters to put into a contest. A character will only be placed there if at least 3/4ths of the voters for that day agree on the LAW Fodder rating, and no ratings above Low Fodder are given. If either of those conditions are not met, the character will not be eligible for the LAW Fodder tier.

I say High Fodder for Felicia. While Morrigan has stayed relevant in Capcom releases to this day, Felicia hasn't appeared in much since Darkstalkers Resurrection. She's a popular character and has TJF for days, but her furry attributes will not sit well with some voters. It also hurts that she is heavily tied to the dormant Darkstalkers series - much more so than Morrigan.

Mid Fodder for Solidus - he's going to be significantly weaker than Liquid like Venom Snake is.

Low Fodder for Shion. She is not a well-liked character, but I think Gfaqs likes Xenosaga enough to keep her out of law fodder range.

Felicia: Low Fodder. Agree with half_silver's assessment - but don't have any faith in a dormant character from a dormant series, especially a furry.

Solidus: Mid Fodder. MGS in general is weak these days, and a fake Snake isn't going to do well unless somebody somehow confuses him for the real deal. Yeah... not gonna happen.

Shion: Low Fodder. Not somebody many people care about.

I said High Fodder for Felicia, I was quoting ertyu to respond but I didn't agree with him.

Is there a large anti-furry sentiment on Gfaqs? If not I don't see how Felicia is lower than High Fodder. I don't think Felicia will get a -huge- amount of hate for being a furry. If not for her claws and feet she would pass as human, and she's literally naked in her pics. And she absolutely has TJF.

You said High Fodder, then offered an assessment that seemed to indicate otherwise. Darkstalkers is not a series that's really talked about here anymore, is it? And a character who was popular in 2002 certainly won't retain the same popularity if she hasn't had a game in six years.

The thing is that she's some humanlike furry. I'd think a full fursuit character would fare better. You're either a human or a furry, and being a little of both reduces her TJF quite a bit imho.

I don't know how much Darkstalkers is really talked about on the site, but most people do remember it (thanks to Morrigan still appearing in Capcom games). This really comes down to TJF vs potential anti-furry sentiment.

And I think I misrepresented Felicia's current relevance following Darkstalkers Resurrection. She HAS appeared in many Capcom crossover games since then like Project X Zone 2. She just has less appearances than Morrigan.

Felicia (Darkstalkers) - Mid Fodder

Morrigan was strangely (if expected in the latter case) good both in 2002 and 2013 so even if it's weird to me that characters from friggin' Darkstalkers of all things would be worth anything at all, I'm not willing to totally write off the likely #2 from that franchise. I guess having Crossovers plus TJF besides their appearances in their franchise is something. I wouldn't have thought it quite enough to get someone like Felicia to Mid fodder normally but then again I wouldn't have thought Morrigan would be at or perhaps even above the fodder-line, yet here we.

Solidus Snake (Metal Gear Solid 2) - Mid Fodder
Shion Uzuki (Xenosaga)- Low fodder

I think only about 12.5% of voters or something crazy low like that liked her in "Do you like this character?" and I don't think Xenosaga's a powerhouse in the first place - KOS-MOS punches significantly above her weight.

Agree with Axem about all three. I will say, though, that LAW Fodder shouldn't be a serious consideration for Shion, due to her series' high playrate on JRPGFAQs and because KOS-MOS is High Fodder even without TJF, as seen in CBX.
