I know Christopher Reeve is the better Superman... but I just loved the Lois&Clark show too much to not vote Dean Cain.

Tom Welling. Smallville shouldve had him be Superman a season after Metropolis became the main location.

I'd say Christopher Reeve, but I acknowledge that at least some of the bias there is because he was THE Superman of my childhood. If I was much older, or younger, I might feel differently.

Though I also tend to side with Christopher Reeve because I feel like his movies were the only Superman movies worth watching. I like Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill as actors, but their movies were hot garbage.

I would give huge credit to Superman: the Animated Series and Justice League, though (Tim Daly and George Newbern doing the voice), because those were probably the best interpretation of the character ever.

Superman 1 and 2 were the only superman movies worth watching honestly.

Meanwhile the Superman TV shows were all good in their own way, but.....often it was not the actor who played superman that actually made them so.

I'm a smallville fan for instance, and did like Tom, but he certainly wasn't iconic in the role. In fact the only character on that show who I thought killed it was Lex.

Meanwhile Dean Cain from Lois and Clark was a good clark, but never a great, or i'd even say good superman.

The original superman show was......good...but so old (Wasn't it in black and white, it's been like 40 years since I have watched it)....that it's hard to compare. If I rememember right though his portrayal of superman was very wooden.

I'm giving it to Christopher Reeves because he was the superman I compared all others to, he had 2 very good movies, and no other actor surplanted him in my minds eye as superman so far (Even though I spent MANY more hours watchign tom etc play supermen compared to Christopher).

I'm stoked about Tom coming back to play superman on the CW though and plan on rewatching seasons 6-10 of smallivie to prepare:)

I'm only familiar with the Dean Cain version, but I voted him anyway - Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman was one of my favorite shows of the '90s.

Me too, but Christopher Reeve is by far the best Superman.
Michael Rosenbaum is by far the best Lex Luthor though- so Smallville has that going for it.

I mean Christopher Reeve is the standard still. That being said, Tyler Hoechlin, who plays him on Supergirl is great in the role. He brings a similar warmth to the character that Reeves did.

Christopher Reeve always felt like the embodiment of Superman. He was so charismatic and just had such an heroic presence as Superman coupled with the best and most believable contrast as Clark Kent.

The glasses disguise has never seemed as believable as when Reeves put on the Clark act. He did it so well it made his transformation into Superman so much more impactful.

The thing I like about Christopher Reeve is his face was perfect for Superman. He had the look. His wasn't very buff but otherwise he fit.

He wasn't comic-book bodybuilder buff, but very few humans would be without a fake muscle suit of some kind.

He was in pretty good shape for what you'd expect Superman to look like by late 1970s standards.

I never really thought "Man, he's not built enough" in the same way I did with Brandon Routh.
