the whole "You're Not Alone" stuff really changes the dynamic of the game because up until that point it's mostly 'I have problems but I know this cool guy named Zidane who's my role model' plus like Steiner who goes from despising him due to him being a lowly thief but realizes he loves him and is willing to let him boss him around, and then it's like 'remember all that depressing stuff that was all about Vivi? BOOM ZIDANE' (other than him only having a year to live)

Tried to play FF15 a few years ago. Bored me to death, I couldn't even finish it, And back when I was a teenager, the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th were easily my favourite games. What happened to the series...

To me 6 through 8 is the 'sweet spot'. I haven't played 15 yet. I will eventually. I was highly critical of 9 when it came out and despite my dissing in this thread I do think it's an enjoyable game, even if it isn't what I was hoping it to be. I more or less played through 10 for the sake of doing so, but I'm going to replay it next (I only went through it once. An attempt at replaying it didn't last me long.) Most contemporary one I've played all the way through is 12, which I enjoy for what it's worth even though it's very uptight and political in nature.

They're supposed to be monkey tails from what I heard.

And no, you wouldn't be the first person to notice the DBZ reference with how Zidane basically ended up like Goku (albeit Zidane is an actually likeable character whereas Goku is kind of a turd).
