I'm glad that this game didn't play a 'Brahne was under an evil spell!' angle. Like a lot of real life royalty from eras in which royalty actually had power, she's greedy and bloodthirsty, but also has some feeling for her family--yet would finish them all off to feed her evil impulses.

The Amarant-Zidane backstory is silly. Too high on coincidence, plus Amarant could've easily gotten out of the situation with the guards. You're trying too hard, FF9.

this is probably the first point in the game that actually moves me in any way, for some reason

(black mage admits they followed Kuja because he lied about extending their lifespan, other mages get emotional over chocobo's birth, mage goes ahead and rats out Kuja to the party)
