-On AIM back around 1999-2002, people would stop talking to me if I mentioned being black. Even when race didn't come up immediately and I was friends with the person for a year, they would still immediately stop talking to me once hearing that I was black

-Staff in Italian restaurant (2012) wouldn't interact with my brother or I, only interacted with our Italian friend (even to take our orders). Only restaurant in my entire life where I experienced that

on a bus I tried to offer an old woman my seat and she refused to take it and then while this was going on, a high school girl stole the seat.

Went into a gas station to buy a drink. When I came out two dudes drinking outside started calling me white boy and telling me to gtfo of there. They chased me off. I actually think that was less specifically racially charged and more just they wanted to fight someone and that was the first insult that came to mind.

In weird white guy racism, several times in my life older guys will talk to me while waiting in line for something, point out a black person and say something like "Hey, watch him. I bet hes gonna steal something because that's what they do." Forgetting for a second that that's a horrible conclusion to jump to 1) It's not a clever "joke" 2) It makes me very self conscious that I'm giving off some sort of "let's racist out together" vibes

I've been told to my face by a white person that the only reason I got into college was because of my skin color. Actually by one of my frat brothers and he just said it out of the blue

This was said at the University of Alabama which at the time didnt have exactly the strictest requirements and they were aggressively recruiting to the point where it's 10 years later and the student population almost doubled. He also didn't know that I declined an acceptance offer by my dream school Georgia Tech in favor of Bama because of the scholarship they offered, so there was no question about my grades.

Told him that, and that was the last time the dumbass ever brought up that subject. But I do picture his face sometimes when CE whines about affirmative action

Also apparently the second thing my parents are asked when someone notices the Notre Dame sticker on their cars at a gas station is "Oh, did your son get an athletic scholarship? Which sport?" but that just gives them an excuse to brag so that's fine lol

Im a 26 year old black male with a new ford F150. Whenever my truck is parked near someone else and we are both walking to our vehicles at the same time, the other person starts feeling anxious and walking faster.

When we go out in public we get dirty looks from old white people and a lot of black people.

I've had someone come up to me in a store when my wife goes to check something else out and ask me why I'm with "one of those" and it took everything in me not to punch them in the throat.

Also commenting on political news stories from the local news station on Facebook and people will make comments about how we look like the type of couple that holds up the line at the grocery store because our food stamps aren't working(my profile picture was a pic of us in front of Cinderella's Castle at Disney World...) and then I get to shut them down by saying we own a nice ass house and have never accepted any assistance, even from family, for our entire lives.

Went to my wife's church from when she was a kid for a family member's wedding and I was the only white person there and no one talked to us except for her immediate family since they adore me, but most of her extended family hates me because I'm white.

I've been followed on a gas station despite having my uniform on.

A dive bar that I go to on occasion doesn't have many black people go in as it is. One week some dude in a tacky confederate flag vest yelled the n word on his way out the door.

Some guests at my job purposely avoid areas with black or asian workers/people if they can help it.

Only a small minority were actual racists while most were the type that just stuck their head in the ground until they heard the actual nword dropped. My frat was large enough to have cliques, so I just never hung out with the racist *****s. It was only an issue during large gatherings or social media where they felt more confident.

- eastern european immigrant kid in first grade spit on me and called me the N word, tried to swing on me but i popped him first and busted his nose. his mother called me a gang banger(yes as a first grader) and said she would sue.

- constantly told by white liberals that I'm not really black or the whitest black guy ever because I don't act like a stereotype.

- guaranteed to be served last at Indian restaurants when I'm out with my friends or family.

- guaranteed to be served first or close to it at Indian restaurants when I'm out with my fiancee, since they fiend for whites so hard. Her and her friend went to our usual spot without me and the cook actually came out of the kitchen to tell them they were the most beautiful women in the spot.

- a month before 45's election a random older YT in traffic yelled the N word at me when he got the green light to turn.

- Asian co-worker who ignored me or was indifferent did a 180 when she noticed I was friends with two German guys that she was infatuated with. Became instantly friendly and outgoing.

I'm a black dude and grew up in a neighborhood of white dudes. I used to run with these guys, skipping school, drinking, etc. In the movie theater one night, the group of em anointed me their "leader." I didn't want it and still don't know what it means.

Anyway, I start dating a white chick, and all of a sudden they're talking n-word shit behind my back, "stick with his own kind," "thinks he's better than us" kinda crap. One lil fucker said he wished I was dead. Out of nowhere they start repping this 113 crap, which apparently stands for KKK. One of them mentions their family is in the KKK. I told them all that I didn't wanna hear that crap and to leave me and my gf the fuck alone. That made living in my hometown awkward and alienating.

Racism in the south flows like water and I could list off a ton of other incidences, but this one had the biggest impact on me and pretty much jaded me for life.

- got a GT Performer in '99 for good grades and getting an award from the mayor's office. Cop pulls in front of me and threatens to put my bike in his trunk and "haul me in" because I was stealing bikes. I was riding through the neighboring 99% white town on the way home from my friend's house.

- in high school me and a freind were in the back row in earth science class. someone near the school was bbq'ing. the sub accused us of lighting fires, wouldn't let it go. current principal was a retired cop and they tried that shitty interrogation tactic of saying one of us already flipped on the other so to come clean.

A few months ago when I came in to pizza hut for a job interview I got to witness some redneck guy ranting to a girl about black people (except he used the n-word). Really wanted to say something to him, but it didn't seem like a good idea to start something with a customer when I was there for a job interview.

I'm not sure if this is racism exactly, but once on a delivery, I had a couple of black guys try to get me to call them the n-word. I have no idea why. Thats a word I won't say.

1. an asian woman stood in the middle of the door at a restaurant i was going to enter. i recognized her from one earlier visit and she worked there. she wouldn't move when i tried to get in to pay and eat.
