For instance, you hear so many gamers praise Nintendo on how they're one of the only game companies today to have respect for consumers with great exclusive games on the Switch. Now, Nintendo is all of the suddenly worse than EA, Activision, and Satan himself combined in these same gamers' eyes all because of one shitty free-to-play mobile game(Mario Kart Tour) they recently released, containing bad monetization and monthly subscription. This one free Nintendo mobile game still far pales in comparison to all the long list of gazillions of other shit that many AAA companies have pulled on consumers in the past several years, lol.

I'm in no way defending Mario Kart Tour or Nintendo making poor business decisions but it's not like these whiners are forced with a gun to their heads to download this free mobile game and buy the monetizations and subscription for it or that this one mobile game will in any way affect Nintendo's console and handheld games(Switch and 3DS) in the future, especially if they'll never bother downloading it in the first place.

We're just burnt out on the gouging and every new fuck up hits a nerve directly since we never get a chance to heal.

People generally just take any opportunity to shit on companies. I wouldn't say gamers are more fickle; just more vocal. Especially on the internet.

I've spent more than 20 minutes on the Internet, so no, I don't think gamers are the only ones who overpraise things they like and then immediately turn on a dime and condemn without mercy when the same entity does something they dislike. Hypocrisy is pretty much built into human nature, and the Internet as a whole amplifies all of our worst flaws as a species.

No I don't find gamers to be one of the most fickle communities. The vocal minority on the internet in that community doesn't change that. Even more so when the opinions you are hearing are from different people to the ones who praise said company. Not everyone will like everything.

Fickle or just very very immature? By polls, the average age on GameFaqs is mid-thirties, but the level of discussion on the message boards is pre-teen.

I don't really pay much attention to what gamers have to say about games, games consoles, or game developers, unless it's in the context of an actual review. I just play this stuff occasionally; I don't make it the core of my identity and the centre of my life.
