There is an NPC that explains why this is to you, in the first town you visit.

Idk if you talk to everyone though, so Ill just say that Mordegon fucking up the world has royally messed with the Zoom travel pathways

So this part of the game, you do have some options of where to go but tbh I think following what the game tells you to do is going to be for the best, experience-wise.

Unfortunately my favorite party members seem to be at the tail-end of this journey.

The world ends halfway through and you have to find your party members again before doing a final assault on the final boss

I feel like this game does it better than FF6. Every character besides Jade (idk what they couldve done with her but they sure love fixating on the fact that she was there during the fall of Dundrasil, and refusing to open up on any other part of her life) that Ive run into so far has had their backstory fleshed out, much more than FFVI did.

Its really the one reason Im okay with this game doing Act 2 the way it is. Since being unable to use certain members makes certain fights more annoying.

Hendrik > Rab > Sylvando > Erik (you can get him early now when you get the ship by sailing out through the canal, but as youve already learned from the interlude, hes lost his memories and is almost useless) > Jade > Erik (recovered) > Serena > Veronica

I already played and beat it on PS4 but got it for switch for the extras. Playing on stronger enemies and still pretty early, just got the boat. Wish I had more time to play.

None of the skills that make him good are locked to Act 3.

You need SP for them though. They're spread throughout his grid instead of being in like 2 trees

Its only like 75 total points to get divide, cobra strike and victimizer, which is all you need to get things going, and even less if you go for the sleep moves instead of poison, should be accessible long before you get anywhere close to act 3

Erik is by far the highest damaging character

Hero is getting 600 damage with Oomphle, Sap, and Inbridled Burden.

I'm still using my Platinum Greatsword +3 since Act 1. I haven't bothered to check if there are better swords or not at this point >_>

If youre having difficulty on a boss, take note of what status he can give, and give Sylvando accessories that boost resistance to it, because he has most of the anti-status spells/abilities

Also yeah, even the first Greatsword in Act 2 you can get is better than platinum I think...

Is Sylvando with double Falcon Blades +3 good or should I upgrade him to 2 stronger swords?

Ive honestly had a knife on him. He gets Nastier Knives early enough so if hes not doing support stuff he can put enemies to sleep/poison. Plus a shield helps keep him alive to heal the party

Swords gets garbage bonuses for him and idk why he even gets the option to use them when the panels couldve gone to something more useful (like lorewise I get it but the tree feels half-assed)
