Sweet. Id love to hear some of your thoughts playing it. It does get a lot of flak for not being as good as New Vegas but its still a really fun game.

I played and beat the base game when it came out and loved it, actually! I just never got around to any of the DLC stuff, and by the time I wanted to I no longer had a working base copy after lending it to my brother and it coming back unplayable. I decided to go digital this time and got the GOTY version, but I won't get around to it for awhile since I have a whole bunch of games on my backlog.

Oddly enough, I played a very small amount of New Vegas years back and bounced off of it, but I think that was because I wasn't interested in a depressing, post-apocalyptic setting at the time. By the time 4 came out, I was ready to dive into it and loved everything from the world to the music to the characters. I should probably play New Vegas one of these days.

Oh yes, if you like story driven RPGs than you should absolutely give New Vegas a chance again. It just suffers from being a little older these days.

Speaking of, if you've never played the F4 DLC I highly recommend to you that you explore Far Harbor. I wish the rest of the game was as good as Far Harbor both in story and gameplay. Not that the rest of F4 is bad by any means, Far Harbor is just that excellent.

Awesome.

So far I think I really like the QoL and gameplay features F4 have, especially the building/scrapping mechanic since it makes the junk items actually matter.

Yeah, I'll try finishing this before the year ends. Wish me luck! If I marathon it how fast can I get to the ending?

I forgot to update it here but Curie now has a humanoid synth body, so yay. Though there's something endearing about her robotic self as well...

Anyway I am continuing! Currently on the Shadow of Steel quest and boy riding a vertibird is pretty awesome! Never had something like this in 3 or NV.

So we're starting a war to prevent a war. Cause that makes sense.

This guy looks intense. I heard he built the BoS from stragglers to a military force in a mere decade. And that he does car commercials. In Japan.

Also...we fot the title of Knight from him. Sweet, but... it'll make me feel bad when we have to reduce everything he's built to ashes soon. :( sorry broski nothing personal

I'm trying out some BoS missions just to see what their deal is. And maybe I can get Danse's max social link perk before I have to inevitably take him out to pasture.

Maxson became the leader when he was 16? Wow.

Also, well, the BoS seems to have a pretty convincing, if unnecessarily aggressive, ideal. I suppose they're not a bad choice either. The Railroad though...they mean well, but, like, leagues behind BoS and Institute in terms of power. I dunno if they can fill the power void should I get rid of the other two factions. Sorry guys.

I got an escort mission from one of the BoS people and it led me straight to the Gunner HQ. Well, that was 'fun' (I had to restart several times since the Scribe got herself killed). But using a Fat Man indoors was quite satisfying.

So we're about to start the Battle of the Bunker Hill...
I'm tempted to tell the BoS...

Tell them just to get the dialogue. That quest is bugged and the BoS and Railroad show up either way.

Alright, I ended up just telling BoS.

And...wow, the battle of Bunker Hill. Thay was one awesome mayhem. Everybody showed up, there were even some random raiders and a caravan passing through. I always love it when a Vertibird is downed, very satisfying to watch.

Since I'm chummy with all three factions I just let them sort it out themselves and, well, the ones left standing in the end were the Institute's synths. I got to loot some stuff so that's cool too.

Surprisingly, Sean is out in the open, looking at the Commonwealth and being like "this place sucks balls". He's also disappointed since we let the synths go. Oh well. Now he wants us to go to the budget meeting for the upcoming fiscal year or some nonsense like that.

Since there are like separate quest lines (Railroad trying to break all the synths out, Institute trying to make ground in the Commonwealth, and BoS trying to destroy the Institute)...uhh, can I just do any of them to get to the end of the game? I am confused.

The Battle of Bunker Hill is one of the best quests I do love it. Its hard when youre hostile to factions. I never knew how tough a Railroad Heavy could be.

The railroad main quests eventually stop and they tell you just to do what the Institute says till a certain point. Im not sure after what Institute quest they start giving you quests again but you may have already passed it. But the Railroad and Institute quests go similar till the end because youre basically acting in your role as a secret agent. You might already be at that point tho because the Railroad/Institute choice is up very soon.

I think you are furthest along in the Institute plot because the next missions after the meeting are breaks with the Railroad first and then the Brotherhood. Itll warn you but you might want to go do more main quest for both of those other factions before you go much further with the Institute. Unless you just want to keep with the Institute.

Theres also the the option of the Minuteman ending which all you have to do is make yourself hostile with the Institute. If you dont capture the synths after Bunker Hill and the conversation on the roof with Father doesnt go well you immediately become hostile to the Institute. Sounds like you got through the conversation tho. Minuteman ending might be the fastest. (Its based on how many settlements you have and theyll tell you to go get more till theyre strong enough)

I wasn't a fan of the go-along-with-the-institute thing that the railroad and the BoS do, because it wasn't really obvious what was going on when I went in. The BoS tells me "just go and infiltrate their computer network while you're there" and I have a chat with Father. I tell him to fuck off. And then I have to leave. And I never got a chance to access a computer terminal, and now the BoS is yelling at me, and I'm like WTF did I do? What do you want from me? It was only later I realized I could have not dropped the mic and walked out, and it would have unlocked a metric poopton of additional content.

Up. Thanks for the answers! I feel better messing around with the quests a bit more. Maxson wants me to attack a super mutant base with the Vertibird. Hell yeah.
