Oh, the in-games? I've done that trophy hunting for the Uncharted games, the Saints Row games, etc. I also tried to get all the gashapon in Minish Cap.

NFS Carbon for PSP. I found all but 2. Funny thing is, on a later playthrough I believe to have accidentally found one of the two I was missing before.

I spent a ton of time in CoH/V pursuing badges, and in DK64 I would collect all the colored bananas for each kong.

If a game has relatively easy to find/access collectibles (ie, you can grab them pretty quickly so it's mostly just an issue of traversing a large open map to find them), and if there aren't TOO many (ie, generally anything less than 100 or so), and if there are either in-game collectible maps (like Assassin's Creed) or I can find a map/video online (like GTAV), I'm much more likely than not to have my OCD trigger and wind up finding every collectible. Especially if there's an achievement/trophy involved. Doubly so if there's some in-game cosmetic or mechanic unlock from doing so.

I really only get discouraged when each individual collectible is a total pain in the ass to get, or if it's something like, when you pick up the first collectible more or less by accident, and a caption pops up saying "1/500 collected!" That's usually the point where my brain goes "Yeah, I feel like I'm going to be content not 100%ing this game."

For example, my reaction to the ultimate weapons in FFX was along the lines of "Fuck that noise" because I had no intention of ever doing the chocobo races or the bullshit butterfly hunting minigames. Though I was enough of a masochist to do the Thunder Plains dodge and the Blitzball tournament (though that was helped by the fact that I enjoyed and was REALLY good at it).

I mostly will only go after them if they give a direct advantage or perk. Cosmetic rewards or "completion" isn't enough for me.
