So I don't have a Lightning chain besides that random one that Reno had but it isn't very good. Would I be better off with my OK USB?

Which boss are you using it for? Reno should be good enough for 3-5* Magicite (I've even see poverty Odin and Leviathan clears with him) Do you have Plasma Shock yet for him as well?

Is there any decent guides for 5* magicite decks? I know the standard is:

triple empower
double dampen
blocker (blade/spell ward + hp boon)
Madeen (double attack or magic)
Something else, Lakshmi or something else healing related

With 2 or 3 HP boons mixed in. Just trying to see what I should farm and inherit, now that I'm actually making progress in this 5* magicite world. Anything I'm missing?

You can probably find something on Reddit, but that's most likely around a year old so you'll have to dig for it.

But yeah that's kinda the standard, Lakshmi/Siren is very important in some fights because you'll want your medicas to fully heal (as well as regenara healing more) Still each Magicite has their gimmicks and you'll have to plan accordingly.

Also one thing I like is Adamantoise with two magic +20, the extra defense helps with squishy mages.

I don't like def boon and res boon very much because most high end bosses have lots of piercing attacks now.

3x HP boon is mostly needed for some versions of Odin where you can ignore mitigation as long as everyone is able to survive a 9999 hit. Elarra needs three HP boons to get to 10k so it's very useful there... but aside from that special case you probably only need 1 or 2.

Having one healing boon and one mind boon is nice it makes a noticeable difference in healing and everyone has more HP now and bosses deal more damage.

For blockers I have one Phoenix and one Famfrit with Blade Ward / Spell Ward / HP Boon. You can also use Mateus for this job but I haven't made one because I haven't really needed it (and using more than 2 at the same time is pretty pointless)

I like defense boon despite all the piercing attacks now, it's useful for the earlier 5* Magicite and torments because as I stated before mages are squishy so the extra defense helps keep them alive, especially against Ultima Weapon.

Also I use two Mateus's, Syldra and Typhon hit hard and I probably wouldn't have beaten them without them before Madeen and Awakenings.

For all the element resist magicite like Mateus, I have one copy with a second resist of the same element inherited. That way I can get 15% resist against any element with just one magicite slot.

I have a Mateus with two dampen winds and I still got another one to deal with Typhon because he was still killing characters at full health (or barely alive and sap would kill them.) Remember nearly every non gravity attack was near fatal when he stacked 6 enareos. And Syldra's Syldra, she was still the hardest boss in the game when I beat her.

Well on a positive note I tested Maria's Awakening on BK and I think I discovered a new inheritance fodder magicite, he's now an easy sub 20!

Maybe I can finally beat earth weak Odin after Maria gets 100 magia.

I'm also thinking about taking on the FF2 D??? torment but I'm not sure which USB from Anima Lens to pick for it. Either Leon's, Emperor or Minwu USB2.

I have Leon's AOSB and dualcast LMR, and getting the USB would give infusion and a damage boost for Darkness abilities.

Emperor's USB would give imperil so Maria can do more damage but a lack of dualcast hurts. He would benefit from Hilda's Allegro though.

Minwu's ability double would build chain really fast, and he can heal with USB1 in case things get dangerous.

The current team I'm planning is Maria, Leon, Minwu or Emperor (Firion is also a possibility with USB1) Gordon and Hilda

Oh you have Lightning Awakening? You should be wrecking him to be honest.

Also you should replace Kain with King, you can get his USB in the Anima Lens Shop. He has ic3 LM2 and a ability double USB, those tempest Snipes do a ton of damage with OK pUSB. Speed is key in this fight and Kain takes a long time to set up.

My day 1 sub30 team was

King (scholar's boon)
Lightning (much more sword damage)
Prompto (gathering storm)
OK (mako might)
Elara (dmt)

You can swap Reno for Prompto and Aerith for Elara. Reno can build meter with Plasma Shock and imperil, then tempest snipe when you feel like building chain. Aerith should summon Vali to build meter, I also have OK with flash disaster and entrust to heal (more to keep quickcast up these days)

I ended up winning by replacing Aerith and Lenna because I have Lenna Awakening too and then switched everyone to RES equipment.

This team got me a 37. I also have Quetzalcoatl. So that would really work, I should try that after lunch.

IMO try it out before you spend the lenses, you might not even need them, or you'll get an idea what's lacking from your team.

I probably should have spent more time optimizing my magicite for Syldra since it was an annoying fight. But ultimately once I brought 2 healers I didn't have much trouble so I never made a second Mateus.

I'm definitely jealous of your Maria awakening by the way. My Rydia needs a partner for taking down earth Odin and being ready for Ramuh.

Ah, it's too late, I already got Minwu's USB2. I figured that even if it ends up not being the right choice it's still 6* holy boosting armor which I lack. I probably wouldn't have tried the d??? before the weekend anyway since that was a Tuesday and I'd probably end up staying up too late for work tomorrow fishing for RNG dualcasts.

I also figured I'd get the exp to master it in the meantime till then. Probably give Earth week Odin another shot before I take on the torment and try to get another accessory.

I did the core pull because I have a lot of mythril and that one has the best remaining odds for me to get something good - just got a dupe Elarra USB2 though.

Also I got very close on Holy Odin, getting down to probably 10% left. I died though because Elarra didn't have enough SB bar to fire off her USB right away in phase 3, and she died to Savage Elemental Drive because she had the major dark resist accessory instead of the moderate omniresist one. Major dark is better for most of the fight but omniresist let's you survive one more elemental drive in phase 3 - everyone else did survive but then died without healing before I could get the AOSBs off (Celes was ready to go, WoL didn't have enough bar either). Anyway I'm sure I can get this with the team I have now.

What do you guys think is my best chance of getting a Fire Chain? I tried doing 5* Ice Magic but Terra and OK awakenings were not break the 9999 line so I need a little more oomph.

The fire Chocobo event, but that's unfortunately 5 months away. It has Auron and Rubicante chains on it, and Vincent's on the g2* banner.

Are you using Vali with Terra and do you have a fire imperil on your team?

Oh Mom bomb as your primary is probably holding you back because her stats are so low. You're also lacking a resistance break to overwrite his magic shield buff.

Also you need Terra to use Vali with a much more damage RM, she's not going to break the four digit cap without it or a chain. Breaking Savage is the most important thing in this fight because of Manticore's speed boost and damage reduction.

If you're desperate there should be a chain select gem banner this month, but it will probably only have Locke and Krile for fire. I wouldn't pay $30 for a gen 1 chain at this point but it might be your only chance until Fire Chocobo.

Krile chain is still pretty good because of the qc3, it's an attack so it get quickcast from Allegro and Krile being a strong character in general (despite lacking an awakening) Fire mages tend to be really strong anyway with Vali and Lunar Ifrit, so the speed might be more useful than the damage buff. I still see Krile chain used on Shiva so it's still viable.

But man I really hope we get that chain select! I'll gladly plop 30 for that Red XIII chain! Maria is itchin:' for it!

I have both Galuf and Ignus chains fortunately, Fire Anything and Dark Physical are what I'm craving I drop 30 bucks and 50 mythril trying to get Gabranth chain

I had nothing for fire for the longest time, and then I randomly got Vincent's chain. Haven't tried the ice magicites yet, but that chain along with Terra's awakening should be vastly helpful. Haven't even looked at Quetz or BK yet since I don't have any chains.

Mateus is the harder of the two ice Magicites, the main issue with him is that he's REALLY tanky, he's got a bigger damage reduction than Manticore, a def buff you need to overwrite and he lowers his fire weakness so you need an imperiler. Also in third phase he starts using overstrike attacks, you need to either prepare for sap if you use last stand or you can use carbuncle to give the party reflect, however that will recover him.

Holy Odin down!! That's 6/9, first one I managed with a gen 1 chain (the key was realizing Elarra needed to bring Warrior's Hymn, and then just figuring out when I needed to heal). Used Lakshmi to block the Curse (silence/blind) rather than spending a soul break bar on it. That meant I couldn't use it as an early rage breaker, but Firion gets USB/AASB down and then throws down Healing Smite just in time to break rage before the first Savage Zantetsuken.

Earth and Fire (and Bio) are the ones I have left. My DPS options are basically the same for both: Bartz, Terra, and Rydia. For fire my only chain is Locke, for earth I have both types of gen 2 chain (Galuf/Red XIII). It seems like Earth should be doable with a mage team but Titan sucks, I want to wait for Brothers. Fire is more awkward especially since I have zero finishers.

Maaaan even with Maria's Awakening Earth Weak Odin is way too damn bulky! I almost got to third phase though, but both Maria and Alph's awakening ran out and they were out of hones from the skill slashes. "Easiest Odin ever." my ASS!

No doubt the main problem is Ingus's weak ass chain and lack of contribution, his damage reflect does way more than he really can. Sheesh I can't wait until that chain select draw replace him with Red XIII. It's so hard to break his damn savage mode, I have to stack OK mUSB, Alph super and faith before Maria's Meltdowns can break 4 digits.

Minwu was definitely the right choice! Looks like in hindsight that was a good decision to pull on the FF2 banner back then since I wouldn't have made the sub30 without Maria's dualcast and Gordon's Glint.

Wow only 7 left to sub 30 now! 1/4/7/10/11/12/13 and I was pretty close on 13 too, I might be able to do the FF12 one when Passion Salsa comes out as well.

Nice, II was one of the most annoying ones from what I remember. I only got a 43s clear even with Firion's awakening... might have to give it another try soon.

Right now I'm grinding magia for my XIV team to try to get that clear sub-30, from 37.64. I also got Minfilia's QC3 LMR since my last try which should shave a little time off. I'm still at 8 sub-30, three more cleared, and 6 not even cleared.

The FF2 torment was actually pretty easy personally, I got it on my third try. No status effects or huge damage (besides incubus starfall) and the weak aoes gave plenty of meter. The main problem is ultimate level down where his defense and resistance get too high to sub30 him, but I timed Leon's AOSB to skip that move.

It's probably a lot easier to sub30 this boss with mages with Hilda's Allegro access. I also considered making Leon a dark mage but he wouldn't be able to take advantage of his AOSB and LM2 so I gave him Gathering Storm so he wouldn't fall behind.

Yeah, the free 40 pull is great news. Especially since when it was datamined it seemed like it might replace the 10x10 free pulls from Golden Week... but now there's at least a chance we'll get that too.

Sub 30d the XIV torment, 28.28. Only took about 4-5 tries the first few to figure out what I needed to do to survive the first 5 seconds and then one run to clear it. Magia and finishing up some dives was all it took (plus the Minfilia LMR I got in the last Luck of the Realms). Y'shtola USB2 is good with a mage team. Guess I should see what I can do on some of the others. FF2 and FF9 were the ones I'm close-ish on (both times in the low 40s). I might invest in one of Zidane's USBs to help on that one. 1, 10, 12, 13, 15, and T0 are the ones where I'm not even close.

Zidane USB2 is the better pick for torment, unless you're using Freya and Marcus in a wind team.

His USB2 is definitely better by itself but it seems like his USB1 might combo better with his AASB - which will be one of the (few) options on the AASB select and also shows up on the IX banner on Nov. 21. So I'm going to wait and see what I get on the 40 pull, and then see whether I can beat Titan with what I have (which would mean I probably don't to take Zidane's AASB on the dream select).
