I just walk right by them.

My position has been, and remains, that anyone who wants to delay me to check my receipt needs either probable cause or something more intimidating than a blue vest.

No. The only place this is acceptable is Costco or Sam's club because we've already lost that battle. Walmart don't need to be treating me like I'm a thief

I've only been stopped once. The lady scanned my receipt and scanned one of my items, and for some reason it was showing on the device it wasn't on the receipt. I just pointed it out on the receipt and the time (like a minute before) and she said it was fine.

Honestly, only reason I can think of that you wouldn't stop is you're trying to be 2edgy. It's like 5 seconds.

Yes, they are just doing their job.

That said, I'd rather just some type of computer scan checking me on the way out.

In fact, if we could just get rid of the cash register and have the scanning at the door somehow determine what all I bought and charge accordingly, that would be great.

They wouldn't need to if folks didn't steal.

Like this one guy who had 5 different cuts of meats removed from his cart because it wasn't on his receipt.

Or how my friend tells me the night shift at Safeway (or Albertsons for you other mainlander folks), there's always someone trying to walk out the door with meat in their backpack(s).

They're just doing their jobs and it really doesn't inconvenience me.

However, I do ignore this one lady. Every single fucking time I'd go to, she'd be the checker and would allow cart after cart pass but always stopped me. So one day I was tired and wanting to go home, I walked by her and I hear her go "sir! Sir!!" And then a couple other customers starting yelling for me to stop but I just kept going. Didn't even acknowledge them. Oddly enough, she never checked my receipt again after that.

I like to stop when they ask, fold up my receipt right in front of them, put it in my wallet, place the wallet in my back pocket, and then furiously check all of my pockets and pat around my body while exclaiming "I know I have it here somewhere! I don't know what I did with it!" and when they attempt to tell me I put it in my wallet, I cut them off and I repeat the same phrase, slightly more panicked to make it even more uncomfortable.

Then I go pump quarters into the crane game.

Honestly, at the store I work at, they check the receipts for anyone who doesn't have stuff bagged. They don't profile anyone unless there's someone being obviously suspicious (walking in covered in dark clothes and a backpack, which happens frequently).

Also I heard that receipt checkers are gonna be computerized in the future. Exit doors don't open unless you have your receipt for it to scan. Not sure what they'd do for people who ended up not buying anything.

If I had more self confidence back then I probably would have filed a formal complaint with corporate. And it didn't just happen once. It was pretty much any time I went there. Nor did I go there that often because the store is 100 miles away. So it wasn't like I was there a lot and maybe they thought I was "scoping" the place

Yes i do, they scan the receipt to take inventory which makes it easier for them to order whats in need which in turn will ultimately enhance my shopping experience. I used to work at wal mart and know how messy it can be keeping track of every little thing in a department especially with theives running amok.

Now that i think about it, we could still keep track of what was bought through the program we used. Why do they need to scan receipts now?
