The thing is Blue Lions has a great personal story arc, but at the cost of being solely a personal story and much of the world building is put on the back burner. It may not matter though, because Dimitri's story is that good.

It does have the issue of a prominent Part 1 character becoming a complete afterthought in Part 2, not even appearing in a single scene.

I nearly did a spit take when I did Seteth and Flayn's A support and had that fucking massive bomb dropped on me - far bigger than anything in the actual plot - that apparently just had no meaning to the story.

If you only play one path it should really be Golden Deer. Edelgard and Dimitri routes don't have much for answers.

Once you know the secret, it's fun to see how much Flayn struggles to keep it. Offhand, Claude and Lindhart both attempt to pry into Flayn's history in their supports with her.

I figured that one out from a random support conversation Flayn had with Ignatz. It just made too much sense to be anything else based on what she said.

For me it was the Flayn/Linhardt B support, which I got very early on. I spent the next 30 hours of gameplay just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

And something I observed while collecting supports on my Church route run is just how goddamn easy they make it to figure out their secret. Seteths support with Bernadetta being the thing that sticks out in my head the most.

I dont see the point in not enjoying things as they happen. Guessing everything ruins all of the fun.

i forgot to mention i got some cool unique dialog between petra and shamir in the second to last fight. something about brigid.

i hate petra because of her poorly localized and forced ESL-speak so i don't really care to know her backstory but I thought the interaction was neat

There are paired endings you can get (though some of them are platonic) for any characters who have an A support together at the end of the game, with the exception of Byleth, who needs a special S support to end up with someone.

If a character has multiple A supports, they get the ending for whoever they have the most support points with (you can check this in the last page of character info, it's called "Close Allies" or smth like that iirc), so the easiest way to target specific endings would be to limit the amount of A's you activate, I suppose?

Dude I went in hating Petra, she literally created a new pet-peeve within me which is "accentless non-native speakers" which seems to be what we're going to be getting in fire emblem moving forward.

But I married her by my fourth playthrough, she's awesome, a good unit and a good character.

You must have not had your C support with her yet.

MGS pretty much stopped having accents altogether by MGS4 and characters who had accents at one point don't have them later on

Peace walker had Chico and Paz, and 5 had no voice acting

Half my family are Cuban immigrants and I've worked with immigrants trying to learn English in the past. Petra's speaking pattern is not as unrealistic as you would think.

Recruiting works roughly as follows:

Every character has stat targets they want: A Weapon/Armor/Flying/whatever Rank and a stat total. For Bernadetta, for example, she wants you to have a C Rank in Bow and 20 Strength. Support level lowers those requirements (how much depends on the support level and what the character was looking for)

So with a C rank support, Bernadetta's requirements go down to a C Rank in Bow and 16 Strength. For units that have a C+ or B+ support level that rank further lowers the requirement. At B support, Bernadetta's stat requirements are a D in Bow and 8 Strength. On NG+ if you buy the A support, the requirements are reduced to nothing so they'll join if you ask regardless.

However, once you reach B support with someone there is a chance they will approach you on a random day as time advances asking to join your house. This completely bypasses the stat requirements all together. You could never touch Bow rank and if Bernadetta chooses to approach you you can recruit her this way. This function is random though, if you have multiple people at B rank you could have a few of them ask you on any given week or none.

tl;dr: If you reach B Support with a character, there starts being a random chance they will approach you asking to join and this method ignores the stats they look for when you're asking them. When you're the one asking them, a higher support lowers the required stats you need to get them to join.
