It lacks direction and most of the power moons are way too simple. Its still a good game but I definitely prefer both Galaxy games and Sunshine.

I had fun getting pretty much all the moons except the shop ones, but it was kind of weird that they decided to put so many in. I appreciate that it at least wasn't super formulaic in how many moons to expect in each level.

It was great but since I've finished it I haven't really had any desire to go back to it, it's just missing that special "pull" but I can't really explain it.

I nejoy the large environments, the art design, and a lot of the nuance... but I find the controls to be awkward and weird (I've yet to try the pro-controller).

It's a fun game, just different from the rest of the 3d mario games in that it's more about exploring the level and just finding moons. Not as much platforming segments like the games you mentioned, but it's just a different game.

My one gripe is that I wish the worlds were bigger. I really just loved exploring in the game, and the bigger worlds would be great.

I remember noki noki bay in sunshine was just a giant level with an underwater portion. The beach level in comparison is a bit smaller.

Overall a great game though.

Sunshine (minus the Blue Coins) is my favorite, but I love Odyssey. I think it could have used less moons, though.

Given that it doesn't seem to have the same following as other titles in the franchise, I have a hard time believing it could be overrated.

I was just thinking this yesterday.

It's praised as being revolutionary by many people, but it really wasn't that stellar to me. Good game, but nothing that wow'd me. I'd give it a 8.5/10.

I usually like Mario games more than Zelda games though.

I'm a rather tactile person, so while I can't see or hear that great... the 3D rumble, particularly of zipping things up, is REALLY satisfying

I finished it, and some of the aftergame, in a weekend, at launch. I then returned my Switch, and sold Odysses for $5 less then I bought it for (thanks to best buys gamers 20% off thing back then).

Was my least favorite of the 3d mario games over all, and to me, the shortest (although there was alot of post game stuff to do).

Meanwhile I have tried to play the new Zelda BoTW 3 times and always get bored sigh. Luckily I have it on the Wii U, but, I never even turn on that system, and have not for over a year, so, I think it's a lost cause and I'm gonna sell it sometime.

Awful opinion

TC, could you try not to be so obvious next time?

It wasn't particularly challenging, but it was a delight to play. Just plain fun from start to finish, with a bit of a hiccup in trying for 100% because the coin grind for the last few costumes kind of sucked (and even then, it wasn't a bad grind, it just stood out like a sore thumb because it was at odds with how well-designed the rest of the game was).

Both Galaxy games were mediocre. 3D Mario is great because of exploration (64, Sunshine, Oddysey). If you want linear, go play a 2D Mario game (or 2.5D). No 3D Mario game should ever be linear.

mario games are overrated. theyre only popular because of the name.

Both Galaxies and Odyssey are great so I don't think it is an "awful" opinion to prefer one over the other. It's like SMW and SMB3, can't really go wrong with either

Except the more linear ones worked fantastically as 3D platformers that focused on platforming instead of exploration, while being different experiences from the 2D games. It's almost like different people like different styles of games and "A game of X style shouldn't be made" is a hilariously arrogant thing to say!

both the galaxy games received a 97

sunshine received a 92

64 received 94

from what I saw, the lowest mainlain mario game is new super mario bros 2, which received a score of 78 (which really isn't even bad)

from what i saw, the next lowest is new super mario bros u with a score of 84

basically what I'm getting at is the mario series is extremely impressive for how long it's been going on (at least the "main" titles)

It was just recommended to me on YouTube. I watched the whole thing. Articulated very well the problems I had with the game.

I found it to be a great game, but the moons were too abundant and the post game, aside from the Mushroom Kingdom, left a LOT to be desired.
