If so, how are they?

We have one for our hard wood floors. Not bad tbh. Be sure you keep the floor of cords and clothes. They get stuck easily.

We have one. It's not bad, but it really depends on the model you get. Some of the older ones suck. The one we have is a few years old model and it cleans dirt / hair well, but gets stuck on stuff easily. Clothes, chords, hanging bedsheets, edges of stuff. We also have all hardwood/ tile floors, so I'm not sure how well they do on carpet. I'd recommend looking at reviews for the specific model you're looking at getting.

We have one. My husband bought it last year so I dunno the price although it isn't one of the more expensive ones. It does ok. There are a few places it can't get to just because of the style of furniture so I still sweep.

In my experience, anything but a shop vac is terrible for pet hair. Clogs so easily

Well, I have a Siberian Husky. He sheds like crazy, but it picks up the hair just fine.

I hate mine. By the time you get the floor clear you could have just used a manual vacuum.

My dad bought one. We have hardwood floors and no pets so it gets the job done (eventually). It gets stuck under chairs and tables somewhat often, though. I like that it automatically returns to its charging station when it's low on battery.

If you're expecting them to do as good of a job as normal vacuuming, they don't do that.

What they do excel at is setting it to run automatically a few times a week when you're not at home to keep the layer of dust off your floor.

Also, if you have pet hair, you will have to clean it out of the brushes fairly often. The newer models claim cleaning the pet hair is much easier than before, but I have not personally tried it.

Keep in mind, while it won't fall down the stairs, you need to set your room up to be okay with a robot that is blind and uses touch to feel its way around, that means no loose cables or stuff all over the floor, or things it could knock over.

Get a good one. Don't buy a cheapo one. Read reviews to get a sense why in terms of mapping/intelligence features, app support, cleaning ability, etc. A rubbish one which doesn't work properly isn't worth $10. As for the $1000 models, I don't quite know if their marginal benefits over a mid range option are worth the premium.

For me, I'm happy with my Xiaomi Roborock s50. It's the 2nd gen model and the app is great. I also have pets but I live in an apartment with a reasonably square/flat layout and wooden floors making it ideal for a robot vacuum to clean the dust/pet fur/etc up. I have a strip of carpet in the walk in wardrobe and it does that too quite thoroughly! I think there's a newer model of mine but I'm happy with it. Does the job when the cleaning lady isn't here for another fortnight.

I have a robot vacuum. My house has almost nothing but hardwood floors, so it works fine. It's only weaknesses here are socks and long hair (my wife's hair reaches her shoulder blades). I have a little contraption that works great for cutting the tangled hair so it helps keep it clean.

I like mine. Bought my parents one too and they love it
