Board 8 > How do you feel about rideshare scooters? (Bird, Lime, Bolt, etc.)

At this point, these pay-per-ride electric scooters have gone from being a big-city curio to expanding into pretty much any area that'll have them. And over time, the hype surrounding them has been matched (if not surpassed) by passionate hatred.

Since they inspire such strong opinions, I'm curious - what does Board 8 think of them? I thought they were awesome at first, but you can only see so many scooters dumped on sidewalks before growing ambivalent about it all. They're also the easiest thing in the world to vandalize, so I can't see the business model being sustainable.

Used it once. Very convenient. But yes there is an issue making them so freely available for the multitude of assholes out there.

these things are a safety hazard and a long term waste of money.

They have no business being anywhere in which we have traffic like the middle of los angeles where they are everywhere.

Destroy them all.

I know four people who have ridden on them.

I also know four people who have injured themselves, three somewhat severely, riding on them. And this is without considering the danger they pose to pedestrians.

Decent/Intriguing concept, probably impossible to "properly" implement and thus will never actually be good.

Even bike sharing went bust in China because the bikes got annihilated, scooters seem like they would be even easier to be disposed.
