During my senior year, this sophomore girl was murdered by a senior guy.

They ran in the same friend group and he was obsessed with her. She did not feel the same way about him.

He and get were hanging out one afternoon and he took her somewhere and beat her with a bat. He then set the car on fire with her in it.

I wasn't direct friends with them, but I hung out with the friend group at school. It really messed them up (as you would expect).

We had people die every year in high school. They were pretty much always drunk drivers, but this is the one that stuck with me all these years later.

Any stories is students dying while in high school at your schools?

I don't remember any students dying. but I also mostly kept to myself so maybe I just didn't hear the gossip. this was also before social media. I do remember a janitor being found dead at my highschool one morning. came in at dawn or whatever and was working and then dropped dead

A classmate, like the same core classes, died in 11th grade. Heart failure or something. I don't quite know what all he had wrong with him but he had some sort of issue and hid it well enough though in hindsight a few of his behaviors indicated long term fatigue of some kind.

Kid was mangled in a car crash, in front of his best friend. Best friend was driving, kid that died was passenger. Passenger's bottom half was still setting in the seat while his top half was impaled through the chest by the guard rail, hanging out of the back window. Best friend killed himself later. Couldn't handle seeing his friend like that and the guilt got to him.

It wasn't uncommon at my school. I shared my story with a group of work friends and it was crazy how many people had stories to share about their schools.

Was a few years before me, but supposedly one guy got headshot by his drug dealer in his family's house.

Went to a really small high school. In a span of like....3 years our community lost I wanna say 15 students (which was a very high percentage considering). Either middle school students, high school students, or very recently graduated students.

Car crashes, overdoses, the Iraq War, couple of suicides. Real sad times.

One guy shot and killed another guy over like $50 of weed, threw the body in a dumpster behind a restaurant.

This was like 10+ years ago and last I saw I think he gets out in like another 5-10 years

In high school I was friends with a girl who's older brother ate some hallucinogens and ended up stabbing their dad to death because he wouldn't stop playing the piano... and if that wasn't crazy enough he did it in the middle of the street in front of the police who were too incompetent to do anything

I was in 7th grade and there was this one girl named Zina Linnik that was one grade below me. I had a few classes with her older sister. I never talked to Zina but she rode the same bus as me. The school year ended and soon after, on July 4th she was abducted from just outside her home. Her father heard her scream and ran outside as the van was leaving with only one of her flip flops left behind. She was brutally murdered. That's all I'm gonna say but there's a little more to the story if you google her name.

Two died in drink driving accidents, as the drink driver so was always hard to feel sympathy for them. Thankfully they only took themselves out. Still awful for their friends and family though.

One person died after drunkenly climbing up a crane and falling.

Another fell out of a window.

Two suicides as well.

From various schools though as I moved around a fair bit as a child.

There's a long, narrow, mostly-isolated stretch of road at the back end of my old city. So many people died racing.

Which I mean, when people keep dying and you go do it anyway, I can't have sympathy.

there was this guy who was my neighbour when I was maybe 5-12 years old. He moved somewhere else after that but he ended up going to the same highschool I did. He was 2-3 grades ahead of me (I forget exactly) and we didn't talk much but he had some disease where you're like, really tall and have long limbs and stuff but are super underweight and didn't have too much muscle mass? I don't remember what it was called but apparently people with it often have issues with heart/lungs/ something along those lines. And he kinda just... died of it one day.

that's the only death I remember happening from my highschool. And considering they announced it over the school intercom since they had like a little remembrance ceremony thing, I don't think it's that likely that there were others which I forgot or didn't notice

The only instance of high school death that I know of happened to the older brother of one of my female acquaintances. I don't know how he died, and I never asked her about it (we weren't that close), but I guess he was pretty popular since there was a brief tribute to him later that year during an assembly, and the auditorium erupted in cheers.

I guess I was pretty fortunate, never lost any class mates (and still haven't as far as I know almost 20 years later), and to the best of my knowledge no student or staff died while currently being enrolled or employed at the school. Pretty small school though, and only been around 40ish years I think. Some former students have died in accident or due to illness and a few teachers have died of health issues, etc. after retiring. I know one kid ( was friends with his older brother) got expelled after a year or two at our school and was always getting in trouble and ended up getting murdered. The only thing I'm aware of that was a little out of the ordinary.

The only high school death I remember is from some kids playing Russian Roulette. I always suspected something else went down and that's just the story they told the cops though.

There was also a guy that I had a class with in 10th grade that ended up killing someone while street racing. He got 7 years for manslaughter I believe.

There was a set of twins murdered from my high school. Their mom's boyfriend had a son, who killed his dad, the mom and the twins before killing himself.

I didn't know the girls that well, but their mom was friends with my mom, so she took it hard.

Just one, from memory. I didn't know the guy personally but he was fairly popular. Ended up getting super drunk at a party and rolled his truck on the freeway.

Two notable cases stick with me. The first was back in one of my pre-senior years (don't remember the exact year), two seniors were out riding ATVs. They crashed into each other and both died, something like less than a month before graduation.

The second was less than a week after my own graduation. A junior I became friends with through football had a bad breakup with a girl, while dealing with drug and alcohol issues. The guy got high, went to his church, and shot himself in a way that left him bleeding out.

Two died of cancer

Three died in a car accident being chased by some asshole maniac, this one especially just completely turned the whole school upside down.

I only barely knew one of the kids who I worked with a group project or two with in class but nonetheless all their deaths were heartbreaking for kids to go so young. I also had an enormous crush on one of the survivors in that car accident who was almost killed too.

There only 2 deaths I can remember in my HS. One junior or senior kid killed himself because he did horrible on some college test. And another kid OD'd on heroin.

Otherwise my HS was pretty tame >_> I don't remember hearing about any pregnancies while I was there

Another crazy story not my high school but another local high school had a girl that was kidnapped and murdered by sex traffickers when she was on vacation.

I wasnt personal friends with the guy but knew him, he was a year under me and in the year after I graduated he shot his ex and her new boyfriend at their work about 5 blocks from my house.

He fled to a little bicycle underpass that everyone knew about and shot himself.

Sad stuff man.

Freshman year a kid in one of my classes killed himself. But nobody really talked to him or knew him so after the school made the announcement about what happened it didnt seem like anyone cared. I thought it was sad and messed up that he was gone and nobody gave a shit. I dont remember his name though

Yeah, a good friend I would always hang out with all the time died in a vehicular accident. He had a girlfriend and a child on the way, the funeral was just unreal to me like I couldn't believe he was gone. I think about him every now and again. Couple of other friends I kind of hung out with also died in a car accident back in my junior year of highschool.

in sophomore high school year, one of my classmates committed suicide in his home.

school had grievance counselors available but i didnt use them. thought nothing of it. thought that my classmates were using it as an excuse to get out of class.

our high school graduation ceremony had his seat. didnt think nothing of it then.

i look back in my high school years and think maybe i needed to talk to somebody back then because its something i still dont understand. i usually dismissed it that he was left with no option but trying to make sense of it all was just something that stayed with me past high school.

Yeah, I think there was one every year I was in high school

sophomore year: A girl, who was a junior, got hit by a car and died while waiting for a bus

junior year: A girl was at a party and she overdosed on some drugs given to her by a friend. This was crazy news since there were implications of the friend going to jail and shit. Somewhat recently, I saw a few tv shows about what happened, and the friend was doing interviews and stuff. It was kinda weird.

senior year: A guy at a party was a bouncer, and I think he was shot and killed.

I didn't really know any of the deceased except for the girl who gave her friends drugs. She was a freaking bitch, no lie

A kid I'd known since 6th grade committed suicide my sophomore year. A neighbor my age died in a car accident with his aunt and baby cousin my junior year. My best friend's cousin's best friend died of a ruptured heart aneurysm later that school year. There have been a few others since I graduated too.

Girl in my hs got drunk and was joy riding, lost control and her car crashed and she died.

The real drama was after the death when some people were saying she got what she deserved by getting drunk and putting other lives at risk. Others saying take it easy she was just a kid.

A senior I knew in high school died a year later in his first year of college from Sickle Cell Anemia. Learned that from his friends.

One of my friend's classmates, if I recall correctly, her mom killed her dad, and the classmate had to live with her grandma after that. That was all over the news in my town.

8th Grade - Brother and sister died in a house fire; two girls died in a car wreck.

10th grade - 1 guy in a car wreck; friend died from an asthma attack.

11th grade - 1 guy from meningitis; another guy from car wreck

12th grade - 1 girl from child birth.

Bunch of people from more car wrecks and overdosing in the years after high school.

There was a parent who had done volunteer work for the music department for several years, and I knew her through being a part of choir. The last time I saw her it was in passing in the hallway as the dismissal bell was about to ring and she said to me cheerfully "it's about to blow!!" A couple days later she was murdered in her home along with one of her sons by a recently graduated ex-student who burglarized their home armed with a gun. He killed the son in his sleep, and when the mom came home to see her son dead, the burglar shot her dead immediately. He ended up being caught and arrested, but I'm not sure what sentence he's serving.

It was a pretty big blow to the school, particularly to anyone who did music. I'll always remember her.

It's crazy how many suicides that occurred. Mine didn't have any that I could recall while I was there.
