I didn't know anyone that died during high school but there's at least 5 people that I went to high school with that have died since. Including one of my best friends who commit suicide back in 2008.

The worst was actually in Elementary school, a girl's dad killed her, her mom, and then himself. It was a really fucked up ordeal. I didn't personally know her, but some of my friends did. The school dedicated a tree in her memory.

A couple years after I graduated, some sophomores bludgeoned a kid over the back of the head with their gun, kidnapped him, drove him out to the middle of nowhere, while he was pleading for his life, and shot him in the back of the head and left the body.

Some dispute over drugs or something I dont know. Trial is still going on, I think like 5 got arrested.

I didnt know her personally but the younger sister of someone a grade below me died from an overdose. as it turns out, a girl I was later hooking up with like 5 years later actually sold the girl the drugs she ODd on. crazy stuff

Senior year, a sophmore went up to a canyon with some guys from her apartment complex. They ended up choking her unconscious, beating her to death with a large limb from a tree, raped the corpse, and threw her down a well. I wish i was joking.

Nobody died in my high school class, not in high school. The first of classmates to die was in her 20s. Died in a car accident when she was hit by a drunk driver. I think a few more have died since, but no one I was close with.

In 9th or 10th grade one of my classmates got drunk and drove a dirtbike into a tree and died. The school's basketball coach died in a snowmobile accident when I was in high school, too, apparently he botched a jump and it landed on him. In my senior year a guy whose house I could see from mine killed his wife, his disabled son who was in special education, and himself. Only 1/3 was gun violence (technically), pretty good ratio for rural America.

When I was in fifth grade a high school kid was murdered. He grabbed a couple of his buddies to brag about it. Fucked them up. When they got back to town they ran to the square where our police department is and ran into the towns dare officer and showed him where the body was. Shit was fucked. The kid was charged as an adult and got life with no parole

One guy in HS died. Shot in front of his house from what I heard, and he wasn't into good business.

Year later, teacher is giving away leftover notebooks, I take one, open it later, and there's a lone page of him attempting schoolwork the year prior. I never used that notebook. Should still have it too.

She didnt go to our school, but the girlfriend of one of my close friends died in a car accident early in our senior year (she was a couple years younger I think). That was pretty rough.

I grew up with this girl from like second grade on. Always thought she was cute, and her older sister was just a couple years ahead and was super pretty too. They were popular, but they were also really nice and sweet girls, always were kind to me even though I was definitely an awkward kid.

The older sister died in a plane crash shortly after high school -- think she was dating a pilot and they were just in one of those tiny little solo planes or whatever. It crashed with no survivors. Really fucking sad.

I lived like a mile away from Danielle Van Dams family when she was murdered in like 2001 or 2002.

Another high-profile case, this time regarding a girl from like 2 grades under me at my old high school, happened just after I graduated, when Chelsea King was murdered. That one went national too.

Other than that, an old friend of mine from elementary school killed himself in front of his girlfriend like 10 years ago. Like a year before he killed himself I got super pissed at him because he started ranting about Mexicans (I made a post about how I saw a pickup truck full of white guys throw a drink at a Mexican restaurant window and yell a racist slur before speeding off, and he defended them) on a Facebook status I posted, and a huge argument erupted for like 50+ comments between him and all my friends tearing him apart. It was surreal coming to terms with how I felt about him after that.

On Halloween around the same era, me and some friends went down a little path between neighborhoods with a bunch of trees and a creek so we could smoke weed (it wasnt legal yet). Saw in the local news soon afterwards that a mans hanging body was discovered within a stones throw of where we were standing, and he had hung himself on Halloween, that same day. Dont know if he hadnt hung himself yet when we were there, or if he already had and his body was hanging nearby just out of eyeshot or behind a couple trees. Terrifying.

Knew a girl. Step-father shot and killed the girl's mother in the bedroom. Then step-father went to girl's older brother's room and shot him twice in the torso. The brother was able to get to his sister in her room and attempted to barricade themselves, but the step-dad broke his way in. The kids tried to hide in the closet, but the girl was shot. There are 911 tapes of her telling the dispatcher that her step-father is trying to shoot them. Brother managed to escape to his neighbor's house and call the police. He armed himself with a kitchen knife and went back for his family. He met the step-father in the kitchen and stabbed him to death.

Police say the brother was justified. Girl died in the hospital.

A girl in my class went missing a few years ago and it made national news for a short time. They end up pinning it on a security guard but they never found the body and he isnt talking.

I girl I went to high school with died in 10th grade from a brain aneurysm. Super fucked up because she was taking a shower before school when it happened. Parents noticed she was in there for a long time, and not responding to them. I can't imagine how horrible that must have been for them, specially finding her like that. :(

A guy I knew and was a friend died our senior year. He was going on a camping trip with some friends. He was riding in the back of the car and not in a seat. It was a hatchback and the driver got into an accident. It wasn't a serious one, but the hatchback opened and he flew out of the car. :(

This was a couple years after high school for me but a kid a couple years younger than me killed himself. He was a super short scrawny kid, and got bullied a lot. For whatever reason he hung out with the popular kids in his grade. They fucked with him a lot no doubt. So there was a "party" at one of his "friends" house he was invited to. He rode a bike for a couple hours to get there. When he got there, the house was empty. A prank they played on him. He either broke into the house or it was open. He went inside and up to his dad's room. Dad had a shotgun and he shot himself in the head. :(

One of the football players I sat next to in my last period went home and blew his brains out in front of his parents and girlfriend.
We got the details from his bff who was a cheerleader a couple days later. She told the whole class.

He had called to leave her a farewell message and his reason why on her parent's recorder. She got it a few minutes later and she ran up to his house since I guess they lived just a block or so apart but he had already done it.
His girlfriend wouldn't have sex with him while all the other jocks were getting some so he killed himself.
That was literally his reason. There was brain and skull all over the girlfriend and parents apparently according to his friend. And yet somehow he didn't die until the next morning when they took him off the ventilator. Because yeah, the whole front part of his head was shot out.

To this day I can't listen to Bush because I distinctly remember their cd is what he was listening to in class that day. I could hear it from his headphones. And he shot himself like an hour later. So I've always wondered if he was listening to their depressing sounding music to in a way psych himself up to go through with it.

The one that struck students the most was this guy targeted in a driveby. Just one clean shot right to the head. He was bike riding with his younger brother, who watched it all happen just inches in front of him.

It was gang related, and the guy pulling the trigger was found guilty of 4 murders all together.

This was on the same street, just a few houses down from where my then-girlfriend was living. Her little brother and the victim's little brother were close friends. The two kids grew up and started becoming involved in gangs too. It's really sad, you would think they'd want to stay away from that, but I guess letting it turn you cold-hearted and not wanting to learn is the easiest route and that's why so many people from my side of town end up like that, and continue to let this shit happen.

I had a huge crush on a girl since middle school. She was the quiet and nerdy type. She left for like a whole year during high school so I kinda forgot about her until I saw her again in Spanish class with short hair. My self-esteem was so shit back then that it took me near the end of the semester to approach and actually talk to her.

During the senior year, I only managed to speak to her a few more times. Then she left for good and I didn't even realize she had cancer until after the fact.

Ah and in middle school, a girl I knew had a brother that died from a skiing accident. I think he fell off the ski lift or got chunked from a snow blower. I can't remember, it was almost twenty years ago

One girl in the grade above me died due to icy roads and a garbage truck t-boned her and her friend sliding through an intersection

One three grades below me was ran over by a girl two grades ahead of her. She was walking on the road at night and a brand new truck struck her from behind and sent her flying about 20 feet according to her friend

One two years younger died of suicide by shotgun to the head. Didn't go to that funeral but people said he looked like a doll because they had to piece so much of his head back together

And fresh out of HS one hung himself and one was vehicle surfing in the back of a truck while drunk and cracked his head on the gravel road. Kept him long enough to harvest his organs and that was that. Both in the same grade below me.

Somehow my class has avoided any deaths so far. Weird since where I went there were like 100 people per grade. Seems like an awful lot of young deaths
