I liked it well enough. Not an amazing film but entertaining enough. I know I saw the anime adaptation of it when I was a teenager and I liked it as well.

One thing that bugged me though is that the voice actress of Alita didnt seem to sync up with the character model at all. Her manner of speaking just seemed totally jarring for some reason

Also if I remember right the kid she meets who ends up being saved by being given a cyborg body but then falls to his death was a much more sympathetic character in the anime. I remember his death seeming really sad, but in the movie both him being wounded and him falling to his death just seemed like things that happened without much emotional weight.

It was certainly much better than it had any right to be. When I saw the trailers, I thought it looked fucking dumb. That said, it was much more fun than I expected even though the story couldn't figure out what it wanted to be.

Probably because it all happens in a span of three minutes. Alita goes from busting her ass to save the life of this kid and then he immediately just fucks off and kills himself for no reason. There's absolutely no time for them to build any sort of dynamic after having saved his life.

I 2 watched this recently and liked it over all. Didn't like ghost in the shell though (Gave up on it).

Didn't see the anime or read the original so I can't compare, but I would watch a part 2:)

I assumed that was intentional, like the technology was wondrous but never quite perfected.

I haven't read the manga or watched the anime, but it felt like they tried to cram like 6 arcs into a single movie.

I enjoyed the movie over all. Alita herself made the movie worth it. Very likeable, with a good character arc. The action was also pretty great. Every fight had a greater purpose to it.

But man...that cliffhanger ending! I haven't seen one that bad since Half Life 2 Ep. 2. So bad I'd drop the whole movie by one point.
