They caught the snake, bagged it, and told me they'll release it by a river creek. ...........all the while I'm thinking: did this really warrant a 911 call? I called the non-emergency police department number first, but that number was closed (said to call during normal business hours). Then I tried the animal control center, and that number was also closed. I tried the non-emergency fire department number, which was also closed... So I called 911. Some managed to get into the kitchen and living room. One snake even managed to get into the washing machine. I wouldn't have worried about it too much. Many snakes are quite harmless. If it really bothered you, like other users said, just get a long sharp object and stab the creature. Best to learn this skill for the future in case you cannot call anyone for assistance.
