https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7314275/Mario-Lopez-future-Access-Hollywood-doubt-NBC-execs-hold-meeting-trans-comments.html

Mario Lopezs could be axed from Access Hollywood before his September hosting gig has even started, according to sources. Lopez was reportedly forced to make his Wednesday apology for his June remarks on the Candace Owens Show that it was 'dangerous' for the parents of transgender children to support their offspring's transition. NBC hasn't publicly spoken about the controversy but an insider claims executives at his new network were discussing what to do ahead of his on-screen debut for them. 'The execs at NBC held an emergency meeting yesterday to discuss Marios future with the show because they do not see how they can just let this fly,' a source told RadarOnline. 'Marios comments are not an accurate representation of what the network stands for at all. The network prides itself on equality and do not accept anti LGBTQ hate speech at all.'

But a source shared that despite him saying sorry, he's not completely in the clear. 'His apology really meant nothing at all,' the insider told RadarOnline. 'All it does is solidify that he was aware that his comments were transphobic and hurtful.' Lopez is due to take over fired Access host Natalia Morales next month. An insider claims Lopez's controversial words will be used to 'make an example out of him'. The source told RadarOnline: 'He lost a lot of fans from this and there is no way that he could ever really recover them back.'

RIP his career.

A lot of people here seem to be ready for all jobs to be automated anyway. Might as well speed up the process.

Yeah we dont need Mario Lopez on TV. Its not that trans issues are controversial. Its that transphobia should not be promoted. Heres Don Cheadle also be controversial but no punishment for him because his message isnt transphobic.

People are too damn sensitive nowadays, good grief at potentially getting fired over that. And on top of it, he apologized and its still not enough?

Lmao, guess he has to make a hefty donation and appear in ads that support transgenders now? Guy had an opinion, that NBC said they do not share and if he apologized that should be more than enough. People need to toughen up.

Yes.

Mario was discussing this saying what he said.

Why are people ever surprised that making a highly controversial opinion in a politically charged era can result in a negative outcome for you? Like, this isn't something that is new or surprising, yet people still can't grasp the fact that when you take a stance like this and make it public when you are a public figure that it can impact your career.

It's insane to me that people still refuse to recognize this reality and like to pretend "It's just my opinion, I can say whatever I want and it can't impact my profession as a public figure!". Like, when had that EVER been the reality?

Lol truth. Its a pretty universal yeah... no shit kinda statement too. 3yr olds cant even be trusted to drink out of a glass cup and people think that they should just make a life altering decision that often ends in suicide anyway lol.

Hell what Mario Lopez said is very very tame and common sense compared to the the common sense statements that people in good mental health wouldnt get their perfectly working arm chopped off, much less their dick.

That said its really fucking baffleing why basically any doctor would tell you no they arent gonna amputate your arm, yet some would agree to chop off your dick no questions asked.

Lol, why do you think that would be okay either? Do you really think that if he had made the same comments in private conversation that was leaked that the result would have been any different? Do you actually believe the people going after him would say "We don't agree him, but he it was a private conversation so let's give him a pass".?

The people that engage in this kind behavior are not about manners or politeness, they're about thought policing.
