After Trump got elected I kinda stopped checking it. Not because of Trump but because it was boring and the trump election is a good time marker. So I logged in for first time since November 2016. And noticed 58 of my friends had the "Remembering" tag. I didn't know what it meant but after research found out it meant they died. Feels kinda fucked up no one told me any of them died. Probably my fault for not keeping in contact but a friend of a friend should have said something.

No the Trump election was just the time period. It had nothing to do with their deaths. Like one guy died in a car accident. Another one died in the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.

There must be something about the demographics of your FB friends that aren't normal that is impacting this.

26 of the deaths were from drug overdoses. 10 were murdered. 7 were suicide. 4 were accidents. The rest I have no idea since I am not that close to anyone that knew them to find out what happened. Looking at the unknown pics I think 2 of them had cancer if I had to guess. If that provides some context.

Have about 300ish friends and I don't think any of them has died yet, most are in mid-late 20's by now I guess

58 is a lot, god damn.

My best friend from elementary school died of an accidental overdose on my birthday a few years ago. Found out about it a month later when his birthday reminder popped up on Facebook and I went to post "happy birthday" on his wall and saw a bunch of other posts talking about his death.

I hadn't really talked to him since middle school, and the last time I ever talked to him was when he messaged me on Facebook asking for a loan of a few hundred dollars so he wouldn't get evicted, and that he'd pay me back two weeks later. Part of me thought it was bullshit, but the part that believed him couldn't do anything because I didn't have that kind of extra cash anyway. Gave him some numbers to call for places that assist with short term financial problems and shit, then found out several months later he actually did get evicted a week later. He died ten months after that.

Sometimes I feel like maybe if I had been able to help him out he would still be here. Like him getting evicted started a domino effect that lead to his death.

I've only had a few, but I only have 200ish friends. One was some guy I don't know and not sure why I'm friends with him, I think he was a local politician or something. My father-in-law died of a heart attack and fairly recently an old teacher I had in high school died in her sleep--I assume a heart attack or something but I never really heard, but she hadn't been sick or anything.

I *think* that's it. All older people and health issue related, no murders or suicides or accidents...

Yea. Out of the 1200 i would say 200 of them are either close friends or family. That last 1,000 if they had kids, got married. are in jail. I probably wouldn't notice and it turned out many of them have died.

Wait why did you just assume I run with the druggy crowd? I don't. All of those that died from overdoses I didn't speak to in at least 3 years. I grew apart from many of them but never deleted them off facebook.
