Halloween Celebrations could be moved to the last Saturday of OCTOBER after an online petition gained traction of more than 120,000 signatures as the Organizers hope the date change will lead to a "safe, longer, stress free celebration" for kids and parents as it appears Donald Trupm will make a "formal decision" to move the date...

It was set up by a non for profit the Halloween & Costume Association as they believe it will make it more safe and less rushed than when it falls on a school night as they fear pedophiles and violence will roam the night if parents can't take their kids trick or treating because it's a school and work night

The National Safety Council reported that twice as many children are likely to be hit by a car or killed on Halloween than any other day of the year

According to change.org, there are 3800 Halloween related injuries each year and 51% of millennials cite the holiday as their favourite

The page said "Why cram it to 2 rushed evening weekday hours when it deserves a full day!"

65% of parents don't discuss Halloween safety with their kids and 70% don't accompany them

Around 83% don't incorporate high visibility aids into their costumes and 63% of children do not carry a flashlight

If it passes after reaching the White House, Halloween will be on the 26th of October instead of Thursday on the 31st

One supporter, chocolate maker Snickers has vowed to give out 1 MILLION free candy bars in America if successful

The date for this marked the end of summer and the beginning of the dark, cold winter associated with death

October 31, the divide between the world of the dead and the living became blurred allowing ghosts to pass through to earth

Many have supported this such as Howard Beige who said "Halloween Trick or Treating for children would be much safer if celebrated during daylight hours, which can only happen on non school days like Saturday"

But others were outraged as one said "Don't ya'll DARE and try and "change the date" of #Halloween. You can't. The universe won't let you. So don't bother"

Who cares? Halloween is always going to be on the 31st, but adult parties will be the Saturday prior even so. This isn't going to change anything. No executive action is needed.

This seems like a good way to make lots of people have "just because" conservative reactions. Trump would probably appreciate that.

This is something cities already do on their own. Many places schedule trick or treat for different nights. I guess maybe this gaining traction will let other people know they can do this. Halloween is always the 31st, but feel free to make trick or treats on the last Saturday, which is a pretty good idea anyway.

For those of you who are anti-anything Trump wants, please note that this idea was formed by a group petition that had nothing to do with the current President in office. While definitely a deviation from tradition, it is something worth discussing that could have benefits, and the entire issue is frankly nonpartisan.
