How do you make them easily accessible? Know where to find ones that you would like? Etc.

I hear people all the time talking about listening to podcasts, but the only ones I really know of are the random uploads on theringer here and there.

Learn me.

I'm not someone to learn you but I tend to find most of them I listen to by letting YouTube autoplay into uploads of podcasts

But you need to be listening to youtubes that would autoplay into podcasts (audio based talk show type stuff) to begin with.

That and recommendations obviously

Download an actual podcast app like Stitcher, look at the top podcasts for things you might like. Search around and get recommendations.

I think you need to decide what you want to listen to before you start looking. Murder Mystery? Sports? Comedy?

That's the kind of response I was expecting. Idk. I'd assume mysteries and sports. I am not sure exactly how well comedies would play over podcasts.

I exclusively listen to comedy podcasts:

Comedy Bang! Bang! - host interviews real celebs/comedians , other people come on as fake characters and he interviews them also

Doughboys - two guys review fast food chains, lots of bickering and vulgarity but they dynamic is fun

How Did This Get Made? - reviewing bad movies, lots of celebrity guests

Big Grande's Teacher's Lounge - 4 guys play ridiculous teacher characters and there's a loose narrative each season where things get out of control

Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend - Conan interviews celebs 1 on 1 under the guise of trying to make real friends. Some good conversations here that transcend dumb TV interviews

and about 10 others

I think comedy works pretty well in an audio format and there's basically a podcast for whatever you're looking for. Most good comedy podcasts are built around improv and playing characters

I start searching for people talking about stuff I like on youtube, and that usually eventually leads to a podcast. (that I don't listen to usually)

Serial season 1 was a cultural phenomenon for a reason. If you want a mystery and haven't been spoiled yet, I would check that one out. It's really riveting if you don't know what to expect.

I also really enjoy Hardcore History if you're into that sort of stuff. The World War I series is incredible.

What ringer stuff do you listen to? If you like Bill Simmons most of the sports people he has on have their own podcasts. For football obviously their nfl weekly show.

Outside of the ringer Bill Barnwell show for football, The Lowe post for basketball. Both former grantland people who are my favorite for in depth interviews and analysis.

And I highly recommend the barnwell pod from a week or two ago with robert May's. Great stuff

I don't listen to any ringer stuff. Just all I ever see as far as podcasts.

Gotcha, misunderstood. Well Barnwell, Zach Lowe, and Simmons is a good starting point. They are all conversational podcasters which I prefer over others who do more rigid, almost talk radio type of stuff

I loved Bill Simmons stuff on ESPN. Are podcasts not supposed to be a like weekly thing you tune into or are they a whenever you can manage to tune in sorta thing.

Sports stuff is a little different because during the season it's a lot of discussion about what's currently going on. Most other podcasts dont have that sort of lifespan and you can jump in whenever

I echo How Did This Get Made as it is my go to while I go on runs. I wouldn't say it is a bad movie review podcast as much as it is comedians mocking terrible movies (or sometimes praising them if they get into the so bad its fun category). There is some information about things that went wrong while filming but it is comedy first and foremost.

Like Seph said, Serial season 1 was so well done it helped to popularize the format so I would recommend that as well. The following season wasn't as good and I lost interest.

Hardcore History can be a lot of fun too. According to actual history buffs, the guy running it gets facts wrong a lot and takes apocryphal information as facts, so you may not like it as much since he is definitely not a historian and is more of storyteller. Still good though if you don't take it so seriously.

I can never just sit and listen to podcasts. I get bored. But while I'm running or if I'm working on something like laundry or while I was painting the deck these were all great to have on in the background. Your mileage may vary.

I don't know of any video game podcasts but I'm sure there are some good ones

Worth noting with How Did this Get Made that the 3 hosts are Paul Scheer, Paul's wife June Diane Raphael, and Jason Mantzoukas. You might recognize Jason and Paul from The League if you watched that but they do a lot of comedy here and there.

Retronauts is enjoyable and has a huge archive. Just find a game/series that you like and there's probably a 2 hour podcast or two about it.
