I don't watch a lot of TV myself, so my opinion might fall short. That, and my expectations are relatively high.

Really loved how Breaking Bad ended because Walt really didn't really make a happy ending for himself in any way, shape, or form, but he created a weird personal identity at being the best, so he decided he could at least be the best at seeking revenge. He also succeeded on providing money for his family LONG after his passing. He also beat cancer. A realistic ending for someone who is intelligent and determined.

Feel like a lot of shows just became way too corporate and less art if they get too popular (like Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, etc). Breaking Bad timed it perfectly at just 5 seasons, and they had that enormous break in the middle of Season 5 just to make sure it was done correctly. I love that.

I loved watching LOST but felt like they really dropped the ball on a lot of loose ends and chalking it up to purgatory.

Unhappily Ever After: Tiffany finally is going off to Harvard and Jack and Mr. Floppy have a touching final arc, ending in them singing the original theme song of the show.

Outsourced: Though I wish it lasted longer than 1 season, at least they seemed to have some forewarning it wouldn't be renewed and closed as many loose threads as they could. Rajiv's wedding was a good place to end things in general.

Burn Notice: Not sure it should count, because things kinda went off the rails a bit in the last two seasons as a whole, but the final episode closed things out really well.

Hmm...most of my favorite shows had fairly abrupt (Special Unit 2, Human Weapon, Mortal Kombat Conquest) or poorly done (Chuck) endings, now that I think about it.

The Mysterious Cities of Gold (1982)

Each episode fit perfectly with the next, and the end wrapped everything up while still leaving the possibility of a sequel. Which was finally made 30 years later and is still slowly being released.

Probably my favorite series when I grew up as a child. Was interesting and very educative.

You get a thumbs up.

Justified. The first season maybe season and a half were procedural cop drama with a bit of flair. Then it gets into telling a story and stays strong the whole way through. Ends as well as a show can.

It was as close to as good as it could be, but could have been done better you know, never acknowledging the mom's sacrifice of her own life, instead Michael and fiona just have sex/ supposedly live happily ever after. Such an important character and nothing?

OK, I'll admit before I posted that I didn't know there was a season 5, but if the end of season 4 was truly the end then yea I think it ended well.

Some people did, sure. But I think just as many people understood the ending and saw it as the best conclusion given what the series was leading up to.

Including or excluding anime? >_>

idk, the problem nowadays is that everything is designed with the expectation that it'll last a lot longer than it does so we get shitty cliffhangers instead of real resolutions. (And the ones that do get an ending usually don't get a great one.)

I will say that the BBC version of The Office ended perfectly -- as the tv special shows David Brent growing as a person.

The US version of Being Human had a great final arc where the enemy was the house itself and the show ends with closure for all of the characters.

...you know, given all of the tv I've watched over the years, it's hard to imagine that I'm struggling to think of more than two live-action shows with a good ending, let alone a perfect one.

Animation-wise, JLU ended early but the final season had a great ending that capped off a fantastic story arc with an epic battle (featuring Superman's incredible "world made of cardboard speech" where he reveals that he's been holding back not just throughout the fight, but the series in general because was worried about accidentally killing an opponent) and a fun open-ended conclusion.

Avatar: The Last Airbender also had a pretty good ending, although it left some loose ends to sell comics.

What makes Lost even stupider is that the creators insisted that wasn't the end long beforehand.

Personally, I think the only shows that end well are the shorter ones. Shows that had a story to tell and ended when that story was over. Shows like Agents of Shield changed so much where the original premise isn't even what the show is about now.

Everybody Loves Raymond ends kinda well, but it took me a moment to realize what was actually the last episode.

The Middle may have ended well, it was going that way, but I haven't caught it yet.
