Let's say everyone has the AC turned up and it cause power grid or whatever gives electricity to overload. You have a blackout for next two days. Would you be able to survive? How much food would you have to throw out?

There was no power for like 5 hours in NYC a week or so ago and people were freaking out. There would be no trains the chaos would be interesting.

My area has a bunch of outages right now because of storms the last few days, 1k+ lines down and 300k+ people without power. It's not the end of the world, but super annoying. Fridges will definitely be emptied out, if not freezers as well.

I'd be pretty annoyed having to use my phone rather than desktop for my work

I've got enough tinned food to last 2 days

No problem here. Survived week long outages before in the winter with the generator so it's an inconvenience at worst

A lot of areas in south carolina had no power when hurricane matthew came in 2016. The area I lived at had no power for like, two weeks...everyone's houses was out of power for at least a week minimum.

This happened in october though, so despite the vast majority of our power lines getting fucked up by fallen trees, the weather actually felt nice outside, =/ My family was fine....we just used our cars to charge our phones/my older brother and I have 3DSes and vitas that we also charged via the car, and used those for entertainment/keep my young nephews entertained, relied on candles and portable lights for lighting, got through my game informer magazine that gamestop sends me every month yet barely read backlog, ate grilled hotdogs, chicken, or whatever else we had for those two weeks. Just drive around for awhile when we got tired of sitting in the house all day. There was a good deal of people using power generators....including our neighbors across the street, who kept theirs running all hours of the night, lol.

We would definitely be investing in a generator just for the AC had something like this happened in the summer, because it gets hot as hell around here during the summer time.

Generator here, so no problems.

Basement and main level are hooked in, so just don't use the upper floor I guess.

I guess now that I think about it. The people who would be screwed in such a situation and don't have generators would probably not be posting on CE. You wouldn't hear from them until the power was back.

It would suck to not be able to flush the toilets, so I'd have to ration my family's poops.

I've been thinking of getting one of those portable toilets. They run between $75 - $100. Otherwise you're gonna have to dig a latrine.

One year in St. Louis, we lost power for a week in winter and again for a week in summer.

Not fun.
