So literally almost every explanation on why every antagonist wants to kill you is that they have become hollow or insane in some way. But being insane doesn't stop them from being able to fight coherently. The enemies are still able to use all their powers normally against you.

I dunno, like I said the enemies mostly look coherent when fighting you. They take proper stance, knows how to block, dodge your attacks, buff, heal... you would think a crazy person would attack you blindly.

I think it depends on what kind of crazy hollowing out makes you.

You ever play Dead Rising? Remember that crazy Vietnam veteran that sneaks around and tries to murder you with a machete with skinned bodies hanging everywhere?

That dude was clearly insane but was coherent enough to set traps and use stealth. Insanity doesnt just mean blind unthinking rage in all cases.

I think it depends on the strength of the individual that has hollowed. People with weaker souls become more zombie like, as often seen in the early portions of the game. They typically just kinda flail at you with shitty weapons

Dark Souls 3 has so much lore in it wow. The theme of betrayal or "That one dude that fucks it up for everyone" is reoccurring. The plot is the darkest one yet.

There's a lot of different contexts for insanity. My favorite is manie sans dlire, or insanity without delusion. Impairment of faculty, but not of function. Yes, it did take dexterity and planning to tie all those power lines together. No, I can't explain why I did it.

so, by the end of the first Dark Souls, there have been two people to link the Flame - Gwyn and the player, and by the the time Dark Souls 3 comes along, there have been many who came around to link the Flame, and the Soul of Cinder is some kinda culmination of all of their essences; like, it's not some being that had a life before linking the Flame, it comes from the Flame, or something like that
