Seemed like he was talking in regards to professional athletes. They have more to risk from being injured and they're lifting a lot more than someone just trying to stay moderately in shape at the gym. I'm not going to do nearly as much dmg if I tweak my back doing 250lbs as someone legitimately strong throwing up 500+. Plus if I do it, I'm on my couch for a weekend. I haven't fucked up my career.

With that said I dont do dls simply because I dont like them.

He didn't go into much detail about it. How are cleans better? Those seem even more explosive and dangerous. (Albeit you'll be moving much less weight.) What safe lifts are there?

I wonder if any even are, lol. Like there's basically no situation where we would have evolved lifting that much weight in those kinds of positions.

It's a great exercise if done properly but it is so easy to do it wrong without even knowing it.

My initial bias is to disagree with this guy in the vids, but I've known people who have hurt themselves lifting less.

Well, even a beginner weightlifter should realize that back workouts are the easiest to fuck up. When I used to religiously lift I just did machine and loose-dumbbell-only exercises in regards to the back. Was pretty careful about that.
