I unno. Japan loves part 5. I'm not expecting it to happen or anything, but I'd love it. They did adapt Thus Spoke Rohan. Part of me really wants to hold out for Purple Haze Feedback. Purple Haze is one of my favorite stands and I'd love to see the novel animated.

Yeah, but I hear the novel is considered quality enough to be canon, unlike the other light novels. Plus, PHF content is included in All Star Battle and Eyes of Heaven. Not that being in the games really adds to it's validity at all, but PHF pops up pretty damn often that I think it'd at least be considered.

So what if he didn't know Trish that well? All his friends were willing to go; at that point, continuing would have meant more than protecting Trish. It meant protecting his friends, and for Fugo to leave them be makes him a bitch. If he had balls, he'd have kept fighting for the sake of his bros who took him in when he had no place to go. Giorno even saved Fugo's life before, to which Fugo said he was indebted to Giorno, and Fugo repays the debt by ... not repaying it at all? Fugo trash.

I like Fugo and Purple Haze. I don't agree with him cutting out like that, but I love that he did. It was nice to see A Protag say "Yo that's stupid guys, I'm not down." and walk away. You don't see that often.

I think it makes him a bit more likable. Because he ain't about to drop all his shit to go do something he thought was stupid. It's more real. Makes Fugo feel more like a real guy. He's his own dude, he's not gonna follow them when he disagrees with what they're doing. I love that.

The main problem with Fugo is that he hardly does anything in the story. He didn't have to stick around, but he should have done more in the plot. If he was gonna leave early on, he should have had an important role to balance things out. There's no reason for me to give two fucks about his departure when he hadn't done much. Make him do a lot of stuff before leaving. Heck, he still could have played a role after leaving, like in that one novel. As he is in the main story, he's worthless.

Araki was originally gonna make him a spy who betrays Bucciarati's group, but changed his mind at the last minute. That might explain why Fugo hadn't done much up to his departure; perhaps Araki wanted to save him having an important role for when he betrays Bucciarati. Due to changing his mind at the last minute and just having Fugo leave without doing anything important, Fugo's arc feels very undercut and incomplete. One of the enemies who appears after Fugo's departure has a similar Stand to Fugo, too. Perhaps Araki came up with a bad guy with a similar ability to Fugo to make up for Fugo not being a bad guy himself as originally intended.

Araki's a quirky one, alright. The reason that happened is because it literally depressed him too much to do, even if his story suffered for it.

I read about the Fugo betrayal thing after reading part 5, but it wasn't until watching it that I realized you could swap out Green Day for Purple Haze. Part of me is disappointed we didn't get that, but I don't think I could have bought Fugo as that much of a monster

Yeah, he didn't have to be a traitor. Personally, I would have just wanted Fugo to have kept on fighting like everyone on his team. Purple Haze vs. Green Day would have been pretty fun to watch.

Fugo was clearly someone that got cut because Araki wasn't sure how to work it into the story in a way that he liked. Same thing with the whole "attack recoil" bit that Giorno's stand originally had.

IIRC, the reason Araki didn't make Fugo a traitor was because one of his friends betrayed him IRL, so it would have been too painful for him to write.

Actually, I would have loved Fugo to be evil. If you think about it, it'd suit him; dude had significant anger issues, and remember that a person's Stand is said to reflect their inner character and desire. Fugo's Stand Purple Haze is one of the most dangerous and deadliest Stands in the series. It's easy to picture him having a really nasty dark side.

Fugo betraying the group and Giorno being forced to kill him would have been epic. Araki's a coward for not going this route.

We already know he has serious anger issues. Maybe he could get pushed to his breaking point, which would be when he decides to kill a bunch of people. Or maybe he doesn't have to kill the civilians in Rome; Purple Haze doesn't have that sort of range, anyway. He could just try killing Bucciarati and his team. Or maybe he doesn't have to be a total traitor to his friends; perhaps Diavolo could force Fugo into betraying them, and Fugo redeems himself in the end.

I mean with Green Day fight, I can't help but feel that fight was originally suppose to be Fugo. Though it does make sense why he decided just to write Fugo out.
