It was downgraded 2 points to 6.4 but apparently its still the largest earthquake in SoCal since the Northridge quake 25 years ago.

Bakersfield. Was falling asleep in my chair at work. I was in that state where you are in the verge of sleep but still semi aware of what's happening around you but can't really react to any of it. I felt this wobbly rocking sensation and remember thinking "I hope I don't fall out of my seat". It woke me up as it got more intense.

I live about 10 miles east of Pasadena and I was sleeping in when the earthquake woke me up this morning. Just felt the bed shake mildly for the first 2 seconds and then it started rocking a bit more. I jumped straight up and just stood at the bathroom door way. It felt like it lasted 20 seconds though I'm sure in reality it couldn't have been more than 10 seconds.

Always afraid of the big one so it's kind of nice to have this one out of the way. After that, it took me about 45+ minutes to fall asleep which sucked. I wasn't scared or anything but there is just that unnerving feeling that takes awhile to settle down.

Standing in the doorway won't help. It's better to get under a solid table.

Unless youve got a bunch of stuff that might fall directly onto your bed honestly you were probably safest just staying in the bed under the covers. It even functions as a layer of padding should something land on you.

Yeah, its called foreshocks and aftershocks. Since its the same area yesterday was a foreshock. To my knowledge the aftershocks arent ever bigger. This also means that we wont know for a few days if this quake isnt also a foreshock for a bigger one.

I was watching live on YouTube the USGS interview about the quakes and there was a live broadcast of an 5.7 aftershock with 30 seconds warning. After it came through it only registered as a 3.5 and everyone started pelting them with questions about ShakeAlertLA and why there were no notifications, which was something I was just thinking about too...

Well, there was another earthquake. I was at Albertsons doing grocery shopping. Half of the people there were oblivious as to what was happening. Some minor stuff fell from the shelves but nothing major. I helped them put it back on the shelves for good measure.

I was standing in between the cereal and bread aisle so nothing heavy would have dropped on me if it did. I just made sure not to stand under any signs or monitors. Seeing them sway around for a few minutes after the quake was a little disturbing though.
