That they were covering up. You know, just things like reported UFOs, crash sites with recovered alien craft and/or alien bodies. Do you think if they didn't cover it up and let that sort of information be viewed and known by the public that it would cause mass hysteria? Or even just any hysteria?

I asked this cause I'm watching this "Unacknowledged" Netflix show. It's one of those shows about the government covering up space stuff. The whole classified documents thing always interests me, not because I think they're all about UFO cover ups, but because it makes me think what exactly is being hidden and why?

It just so happens in these alien shows the main reason given seems to be public panic. Thus, why I asked!

I don't think so, unless there was danger of an imminent attack by extra terrestrials. I also don't think the gov could keep this sort of thing a secret even if they tried.

Typically the information is kept secret because people misbehave with incomplete information. If the secret is "Why the fuck is an old soviet jet here?", it's better not to let mad people hype up a cold war when it's something stupid like a private owner dicking about.

I think it would cause some issues for sure. Some people wouldnt care so much but I think some other people would obsess over it and not be able to get anything else done. Or maybe wed learn our place in the universe was inconsequential and some people might fall into a deep depression.

Then theres strongly religious folks. Im sure many wouldnt see alien life as a threat to their beliefs but others might lose their faith or react defensively and see the information as an attack on their religion.

And in our modern culture even if concrete proof of alien life was presented to the public there would be outliers that would insist the whole thing was fake.

Never understood the concept of aliens clashing with religion. This all mighty god created a universe and life on one planet. Why couldnt he do thr same on another planet.

If anything I think religious people would start looking for any evidence that the aliens also believed the same religion. Like imagine if there was a cross like shape on a UFO?

I believe that if aliens did exist and had the technology to travel the galaxy we would know.
Mainly because if they were sending all these probes and losing track, they'd make their presence known and demand answers.

Unless there was a MIB-style situation where people were profiting from the cover-up or world leaders had an active agreement with the aliens themselves, there's no real incentive to covering things up. Likewise, it'd be damn near impossible to keep it covered up to any reasonable measure -- especially in this day and age -- which makes the whole thing sound like bullshit.

Granted, any incident would have some hysteria attached, but people would get over it. Unfortunately for alien cultists, however, things like aliens and ghosts and vampires and werewolves are all make-believe. And chemtrails aren't turning frogs gay, either.

They do go into this in the video and they explain how it could be made to not be impossible. And you even say part of the reason in your own post. Most people see stories about aliens, or those other things you listed and just automatically think "that's fake" so how is it impossible to keep it covered up?

I didn't say half, and I think more than half of the people think stories about aliens are fake. I could be wrong about that though.
