Basically, once WRPGs improved (starting around the time of the original Baldur's Gate), I jumped on that train and left JRPGs behind forever. FFVIII being hot garbage was the start of that downfall, and FFXII being less fun than watching paint dry pretty much killed any vestigial interest forever. Kingdom Hearts might have been able to keep winning me over with Disney and Square nostalgia, but then they decided to shove their head so far up their own asses that they could taste small intestine, so by the time they got around to KHIII I couldn't even muster up the slightest illusion of giving a shit. Suikoden's about the only other series that might have been able to keep me reeled in a bit longer because Suikoden V was awesome - but then Konami decided to murder that franchise and we never got another worthwhile game again, so it didn't. Couldn't get into Elder Scrolls, only Bethesda game I've really spent time with was Fallout 3 and I didn't even finish it. I liked Witcher story but the first game has bad gameplay.
