I work full time and so does my wife. We arent well off by any means but we arent poor either. We have and all starter house we own, been here for 7 years now. We both have decent careers but neither of us are making life changing bank. We basically live debt free other than mortgage and 1 car loan, and every pay cheque we put a little away for big expenses like insurance or emergencies. Our 2 kids are getting older, and gymnastics alone for our oldest runs us over $300 a month.

I guess I'm saying I'm not worried about paying bills but like most I'm realizing I'll work forever.

My wife recently started making jewellery out of Sea glass we collect at Lake Huron and makes some decent side cash. It's cool becaus she enjoys it so it's not really work per se but even having $250 a month to burn or stick away is nice, and I'm wondering what everyone else does on the side? Legally of course.

I guess lots of people dream of writing a book or other better planned out avenues but that's much more of a risk being that it could yield peanuts in the end.

I dont need ideas like sell plasma I'm not desperate but I wouldn't mind starting a side project of some kind. I'm decently creative and work with my hands at my job, but I have 0 fine art skills. I'm sure many people make things and sell them on places like etsy?

This.

Learn 1 or 2 markets, and focus on those.

I run a YouTube channel about Survivor/Big Brother, two of my favorite shows. It's performed well over the past year and a half, gained about 37k subs.

I didn't start the channel as a side hustle, more just a hobby as a superfan, but it's nice to be able to make some cash too. Although I'd still be doing it regardless of revenue.

Very cool. My wife did this years ago for makeup reviews. Too bad she never kept up with it many of her videos got over 100k views in a months time.

Always nice to be getting a little cash from a hobby you are already passionate about

Both of those are options in most markets, as long as you know what kinds of things hold long term value. It's slow though, so it's more of an investment, rather than a side job, much in the way of stock.

In terms of making this thing a side job, it has more to do with knowing what markets and products in those markets can be quick and easy sells. Such as things that are new, but might have limited production runs, where you can buy up many of them, and sell them when people are unable to get the product. This is risky if you don't know the reliability of the market or the company though.

I sold my entire childhood for like $5,000

It was a great side hustle for a short period of time.

Also, wish I still had my intellivision.

Yea its just having knowledge of what sells for what and being able to find those things for cheap or on sale

its not all one big payoff, its more of an add up thing

One time, back when Gamestop sold PS2 games

my store had all 4 dot hack games. the 2nd series

they had a b2g2 free sale

I got them all for like 30

I sold them all for around 60-70 each

Looking at clearance racks is the best way to start

Another sales tip, and this might be bordering more on making this a business, rather than a side job, is to seek out people who are selling massive collections of whatever collectible you are focusing on. Often times, you will find people who collected it for years, and for some reason, they are done, and while they probably know the value of what they have, they want it all gone, whether for quick cash, or just not wanting to fool with individual sales. You can get much better deals by buying full collections many times, if you don't mind selling everything individually, and as long as you have the funds for huge buys.
