Both of those are options in most markets, as long as you know what kinds of things hold long term value. It's slow though, so it's more of an investment, rather than a side job, much in the way of stock. In terms of making this thing a side job, it has more to do with knowing what markets and products in those markets can be quick and easy sells. Such as things that are new, but might have limited production runs, where you can buy up many of them, and sell them when people are unable to get the product.
