This is a topic to rate the contest strength of potential newcomers in the current contest environment.

I will pick the characters to rate and discuss for each day from user nominations - whoever the 3 most nominated characters are at that time. If there are more than 3 I will pick randomly. You can nominate any number of characters at any time, but you cannot nominate the same character twice.

All characters who were present in the 2018 Character Battle will NOT be eligible. Otherwise you can nominate any character that has appeared in video games; even comic book characters. This will exclude real-life athletes who have only appeared in long running sports series, however I will accept those who have their own games such as Shaq. I will accept nominations for iconic gaming duos too, if both members of said duo are named in the title of a game (Banjo-Kazooie, Sam & Max Hit the Road, etc).

Each day will have a separate topic, and nominations will carry over. As far as actually rating the character's contest strength; I ask that users rank a characters potential strength with one of the following qualifiers - Low Fodder, Mid Fodder, High Fodder, Fodder Line, Low Midcarder, Midcarder, High Midcarder, Near Elite, Elite, LAW Tier (capable of beating Link). I will average all the ratings given to a character to come up with their final ranking. I have included a highlighted entrant from Character Battle X on each tier of the strength rankings below, to provide a baseline for each.

Death - High fodder. For some reason I was almost certain he was in either Rivalry Rumble or CB9, but I checked both those brackets and he wasn't there. I know that doesn't exclude him from this but I wanted to check for reference. And yeah, Alucard(/SOTN in general) aside Castlevania isn't exactly full of powerhouses in these things but Death could probably be a little weaker than CB10 Simon.

Scrooge McDuck - Fodder line. Could maybe even be a low midcarder. Not just popular among Disney fans, but has a legitimately popular old school game that got a well-received remake a few years ago.

The Joker - Midcarder. Weaker than Batman but could still hold his own; potentially top 10 non-VG-originating characters.

I agree with these. In theory, The Joker should be closer to Batman, but I'm not feeling it for whatever reason.

As for Scrooge McDuck, I'm going to say High Fodder. I don't think his game (including the remake) is as popular as it's cracked up to be, and GameFAQs has the wrong site demographics for Disney fans to help much.

For these nominations, I am not going to accept Callie & Marie. I am not sure if the Ice Climbers are a legit nomination either. Ice Climber, their only game aside from Smash, is one letter off from allowing them in based on the restrictions I set for nominating duos. I also nominated Popo on his own.

That's kinda dumb honestly. Particularly since, say, Sam & Max are more separable than Callie & Marie. Not that Allen would ever allow duos in anyway so it's pretty much a moot point.

As for Ice Climbers, if you want to change my nom to a solo Popo that's fine with me. I almost did that myself anyway.

naw you're good, I will keep the Ice Climbers in. They're only really a duo in Smash, but they definitely deserve a look.

Death I think is Fodder Line. All things considered, Simon looked VERY good in CBX. Castlevania has quite a bit of strength right now.

Scrooge McDuck is High Fodder. DuckTales was a popular game on the NES, but I don't think the remake had a huge amount of interest. Scrooge's peak strength was in the 90s, and I doubt much of Gfaqs cares about the modern DuckTales show.

Pic factor could be important for The Joker, but I assume he would get a pic from either the Arkham series or Injustice. I will put him as a Midcarder, but I think if he was in a contest 8 to 10 years ago he'd be stronger.
