At least this way, the possibly of him being president again is gone, per the twenty-second amendment. Yeah, itll likely suck, but its for the greater good.

Wouldnt this invoke an almost immediate response from Congress? Like, if he declared this via an Executive Order, its still need to be approved, right?

Personally, Im not too thrilled about the possibility of him being in office for another four years as theres much better candidates imo, but this way, hed be metaphorically banned from running again and itd (hopefully) shut up all the racist and intolerant followers who will likely cry foul otherwise.

The real problem is that the Democrats seem like they're lining up to make the same mistake they've made before (and which the Republicans have made at times too) - namely, they're so utterly convinced that Trump is so terrible and no one sane would ever vote for him again, so they don't need to try very hard or put up actual worthwhile candidates to run against him.

But that's basically the mentality that lost the last election, and is the same reason Bush got a second term. People need to stop underestimating Trump's ability to get reelected as long as the opposition fields someone just as terrible.

If the Democrats were smart enough to aim more centrist than doubling down on their own entrenched stalwarts, they'd easily win with a landslide. But instead, overconfidence may wind up being their undoing.

I dont think youre right on this one. I think trying to be more centrist resulted in Hilary being the nominee over Bernie and there just wasnt excitement for her as a candidate to the point where people either chose not to vote at all or voted for trump to try to upturn the status quo.

Biden would be a repeat of that mistake. Hes polling well now but once the debates start I think its gonna be obvious how unpopular a lot of centrist policies are nowadays.

Hey you might as well hope for it then since its for sure going to happen. Dems have learned exactly 0 lessons since 2016.

Trump's own poll numbers show him underwater right now.

He trails Biden 16 points in Pennsylvania, 10 points in Wisconsin, and seven points in Flroida. Hell, he's actually put Texas in play for the Dems, as his lead there is now just two points.

And, again, this is from a poll conducted by Trump's own campaign, which - after days of denying it - they have now confirmed is accurate.

A year is an eternity in politics, so I fully expect these numbers will change, but to act like this election is a slam dunk for Trump is laughably inaccurate. Trump barely scraped out a win in 2016, with his margin of victory small enough to fit in half a football stadium; since then, he's done nothing to expand his appeal, has no major legislative accomplishments to his name (aside from an unpopular tax revamp that has given huge breaks to corporations while ballooning the federal deficit), is perpetually riddled with scandals, and his numbers have consistently been terrible even with a roaring economy and no major wars that the US is involved in.

Unless there is a major reversal or the Dems commit an absolutely historic blunder, all signs point to Trump losing and losing hard.

That would be the Trump campaign. Take it up with them.

For what it's worth, most of the polls that have been conducted so far have seen similar numbers:

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2020/president/tx/texas_trump_vs_biden-6818.html

Calling individual results this far out from the actual election is a mug's game, and there's still plenty of opportunity that support for Trump in Texas will coalesce, but the state's demographics are changing and it's steadily been turning more purple over the last few elections. The days of Texas being a ruby-red bastion like Arkansas or Utah are long gone.

I think people overlook this. His margin of victory, if you throw out EVs(obviously EVs determine the winner) his win was a) razor thin as pointed out already and b) got murdered in the popular votes.

More people hate him now than before, i dont see a single poll or metric disputing that. The promises of him acting professional once the campaign trail was over were shit on(I cant recall if trump himself said this or people tried to justify their vote partly with this), and he isnt some new unknown entrant into the race, which certainly bought him votes last time. Thats not even getting into his actual policy, which in some cases, such as the wall(bar none his signature campaign idea), have been a total dud.

The democrats could fuck this up, trump could get more popular in a year than i could even imagine. I'm just not sure looking at numbers(not really even polls for the most part) how he wins again.

I could be 100% wrong, I do admit that.

This poll was done starting the day Biden Announced.

If you weren't paying attention, I'm sure it does.

Hillary was given 70% odds to win by most reputable polling outlets and her margin of victory was not expected to be large. In essence, three outcomes were considered statistically possible: a slight Hillary victory, a slight Trump victory, or a significant Hillary victory.

Trump won by the thinnest margin since the Bush Jr. elections, despite going up against the most unpopular candidate the Dems have ever put forward and having Democrat voter fatigue on his side. Since that time he's only gotten more unpopular.

So far you haven't done anything in this topic but say, "Nuh uh, Trump's gonna win!" without giving any explanation as to why anyone should believe you or care about your opinion.
