Does it suck to lose with such a high number? Of course.
But that's the losing team's fault. Not the winning team's.

They should treat this as a learning experience for next time.

There have been worse scores out there, they'll get over it, like the rest of them.

As an Australian I've literally never seen "running up the score" as a negative thing, or something to even blame on the winning side. If an AFL team gets beaten by 150 points, literally 100% of the blame is on the shitty incompetent side. Hell, even in low country levels everyone gets a good laugh out of a nice 300-0 scoreline because duh.

Literally the only time I've seen there be any consideration whatsoever for how dominant a side is was in under 12s basketball since the competition required the other side to score for the winning side to be granted percentage, which obviously led to condescending "everyone stand aside like it's free throws" phase in the last three minutes. This is what Americans want in their professional level sports?

This shit always comes up whenever women are criticized for something.

Yes, men do and have gotten criticized for rubbing in a crushing victory. When Germany wrecked Brazil, they decided to let off in the second half to not further embarrass them. Its called sportsmanship.

At amateur levels, cheering too much does make you a poor sport.

But this isn't an amateur competition. At all. Now, at professional levels, I'd argue doing things like Terrell Owens celebrations makes you a poor sport, but there's nothing wrong with group hugging/high fiving/etc. I don't care if it's the 1st goal or the 13th, especially in the highest-level competition on Earth.

And it's a REALLY happy and excited athlete.

Yeah theres just nothing here.

For people to criticize for poor sportsmanship like this I would expect to see like getting in the other teams face and mocking them or something.

To outsiders unfamiliar with sports, I could see that take. For better context, these are women that have won World Cups running around hamming it up after a dozen goals against one of the worst teams in the world.

I say this as someone that cashed a USA -7 ticket on the game.

The goal differential matters at this point in the tournament so I don't care, it benefits them to score as much as they can.

However, I've always been rubbed the wrong way by the stuck up arrogance of USWNT and they're the only national team that I actually like to see lose, so hopefully that'll happen at some point in the tournament.

They didn't get criticised for this the last World Cup, and they won the damn thing. So obviously they went to far this time.

So first thing, those schools are getting buttloads of money for those games. Millions and millions. Next thing, in college there's style points. You got 2 teams, one team beat their soft teams by 30 points. Other team beats those soft teams by 70 points. That team is getting the higher ranking.

This is just more of taking it out on other people instead of yourself. If you got whooped up on that means you gotta work harder, or you were just insanely outmatched.....either way, it's not the end of the world and in these athlete's lives they've played hundreds of games. I hear you, but one of the teams in our group (Chile) is actually ranked lower than Thailand was, and two teams advance out of each group. I'm telling you we won't need those tie breakers. The US will smash both teams, and Sweden will smash both teams. Whatever happens between the US and Sweden is irrelevant because both teams will advance.

If you look, the second largest goal differential is France with +5, and they've won two games already. 13 is just hilarious in a mean way lmao
