There's no rule that says a character that was an Assist Trophy can't be a playable character. Chrom being in Robin's Final Smash was a similar situation and they allowed Chrom to both be playable and in the Final Smash.

Sure, there's no rule, but it's more about the workload for Nintendo that they put into an Assist Trophy (it's not as simple as people seem to think), and then turn around and make them a fighter too. They wouldn't have bothered to do the Assist Trophy in the first place.

I know Waluigi is suddenly getting name dropped because of a photoshopped picture that conveniently predicted The Hero and Banjo "right before the direct", but has only recently surfaced. Really makes you think.

Seems to me like it's less effort than making a new character from scratch. They already have the model and some animations made. The only holdup is if those models are lower quality than the actual fighters, and I don't know if that's the case.

I would take basically any of the assist trophies over any of the third party names mentioned here (sans sans, that'd be wild)

but since it seems "third party" is the theme of this pass, its hard for me to hope for anything big.

Someone in a Discord 100% guessed that it was going to be Hero with the three alts and Banjo with the K. Rool/Duck Hunt fake-out trailer. He then said his "sources" told him the other two DLC characters would be an Undertale rep that is NOT Sans and Waluigi.

The only thing is that he made this prediction within a week of the Direct and we've already had confirmation (I think from someone from Easy Allies or Kotaku, I can't remember which) that several dozen journalists and industry insiders got to see the Direct one week early, so anyone who happened to magically guess Hero/Banjo probably just know one of those people and took advantage of having exact information to fuck with people.

I am not getting anymore challengers after classic runs but the characters I have left to rematch and my unlocked characters dont equal 75. Do the Mii Fighters count towards the 75?

i also think that konami literally doesn't give a fuck about any of their IPs so when nintendo came to them and said "we will pay you to use your IP you don't have to do anything it's free positive advertising for you, a company everyone currently hates" what the hell else were they gonna say

Tales of Symphonia...

And ot's by far the most popular and recognizable Symphonia game in the US, especially for Nintendo gamers, and as I have said Namco helped make Smash. Lloyd was already a Mii Costume, I don't see why he's super unreasonable for a playable character all things considered.

well we know a lot of merchandise people were privy to the Banjo thing because a ton of nerd shirt sites had Banjo things ready to go right away and those Cable Guys had a Banjo controllers stand ready to go. I get it for them because getting merchandise ready to go right out the gate is important, but we know journalists got to see the Kencineroar direct early as well and there was basically no reason for that.

I think Nintendo is just weird like that

The Mii Fighters don't "unlock". You can play them any time. They don't show up on the character select screen until you create a Mii Brawler, Swordfighter, or Gunner. They do show up in World of Light though to create the 'default' generic Mii associate with each Fighter, which will add them to the character select screen if you hadn't created your own by then.

KK forgot to account for the fact that the Smash Bros. site numbers the echo fighters as sub-numbers of the character they are cloned from.

There are 76 on the base game, including Pokemon Trainer's Pokemon and Mii Fighters as separate characters, plus Piranha Plant makes 77. I can't remember if Mii Fighters each have their own slot or just one (I haven't played since like January), but depending on that, your completed character select screen (with only PP as DLC) should have either 73 or 75 characters.

Use the slow mo and the shield reduction items during the gun part.

Also, use the items during battle. The ones that start them with damage make 4 star battles super easy.

When they show up in the shop that uses coins (not the shops that uses SP points from WoL) you can buy as many as you have money. You can buy them from SP shops too, but they only carry 1 at a time.

The Pikmin themed Exploration (6 hours I believe) focuses on items. So send in four 4-star lvl 99 spirits for the most prizes (1 red, 1 blue, 1 green, and 1 purple for even more profit)

I'm pretty sure he trolls that. I can't remember the exact line, and I can't find the screenshot, but I remember a while back about some in game dialogue that was a very trolly line that made people think she was going to be in Smash. I can't remember if it had "smash" directly in the line or referenced some sort of invitation to a fighting tournament. It was very obviously trolling, which is pretty hilarious.

This picture was used as support for her prior to Ultimate's release, but looking at it now, mainly the left panel of this picture, it seems obvious that both that and the new window in the trailer is Wayforward being clever to make sales better; they know Shantae is not in Smash but know an ambiguous non-tease will give them free advertising.
