Binnington is on the verge of entering the playoffs as "Who is this guy?" And ending it as a legend.

I remember seeing a stat that the record for rookie playoff wins was 15 set by a few people, notably Ken Dryden and Matt Murray. I assume the first round was best 3 of 5 during the Dryden days, and Murray had MAF win a game at some point (I think he came in at game 2 that year?)

So if Binnington wins he's got that record, and truly legendary status. For a guy who was going to be sent to the ECHL and refused to go... and now he's here.

I have a personal story that Binnington reminds me of but I'll post it later.

Edit: okay apparently Dryden didn't get 15, could've swore... well it was Patrick Roy instead.

A shutout could get it for Binnington, but it should be O'Reilly. GWG ought to help.

Okay here's another story I wanted to say.

I really, really hated the Vancouver Canucks in the 2010-11 season. I forget why, insufferable fanbase or some other factors. In those playoffs, I was rooting for Chicago so hard when they came back from down 3-0 in the series to make it 3-3 only to lose in Game 7 OT on a real soft goal (where Chris Campoli put in a real "Brad Marchand"-esque effort contributing to it - never forget).

Vancouver squeaking by their eternal Blackhawks nemesis in the first round made getting to the cup finals easy. I was rooting for Boston bigtime.

When it came to Game 7 I was seriously contemplating making a big money bet on Vancouver winning Game 7, because in my head I rationalized it like:
-If Boston wins the joy of the Vancouver loss will be worth the money
-If Vancouver wins at least I'll get some money out of it

Yeah, that's how my logic worked back then... I never made the bet and thankfully Boston won (and the city of Vancouver entertained us afterwards). I don't think I had thought about the whole "make a bet on the team I don't want to win" scenario until this game. Even when Ottawa was in Game 7 of the conference finals I didn't think about it...

So really this is just such a relief and such a happy moment, just a shame they couldn't have won in St. Louis.

So we can go ahead and pencil in the Blackhawks as the Blues' opponent on banner night? Assuming the Hawks starting in Europe doesn't mess with the scheduling at all?

Just remember St. Louis - Dallas were in a brutal Game 7 Double OT. Just goes to tell you how one bad (or good) bounce changes everything.

Also remembering the brutal 5 minute major collapse that the Golden Knights incurred, surely they could've beaten the Avs? could they have taken the Blues, as they would've been healthier?
